Yeah I remember that! Guy hit the jackpot. I have called 4 local dealers. Lowest I saw was 140 and the highest was 700. Half the places didn’t even believe me that it was an option...

I can confirm that it is not wired up for plug n play for an actuator. The harness has to be ran from the tail gate down the frame, through a gromet at the passenger floor board and then plugged in through a plug and play connector at the passenger floor kick panel into an 18 pin connector. It’s 2 wires to receive lock and unlock from the passenger front door.

$140 is a good price to me. My dealer did a really nice job. I found the thread! OEM tailgate lock dealer install. (Jaysbeaker)

The harness runs up to he passenger front kick panel where there is an 18 pin junction connector. The harness that you run has a male and female connector, the factory make plugs into the harness and the harness male plugs into the factory female. If that makes sense. But this is only on 18-20 models. I have a 15 that I’m about to install this same kit however I will have to tap into the 2 signal wires that are in a different connector. Toyota changed the connector on the later years.

Does anyone have part numbers or pictures of the harness connectors on the OEM? If I could get those connectors I could plug the Pop A Lock into that panel just like the OEM.

1794 PRO Ninja'd me. You can ignore this>>> The Pop N' Lock routes to the front passenger (not sure there are connectors in the the rear). I think the same is true for the OEM kit routing to the same location (I'm trying to find a video for you showing the OEM install). The rest of your assessment sounds correct. The connector plugs right in with no splicing. Super clean install. I would have gone with OEM but the P n' L was dirt cheap at the time.

In addition to any recommended tools, I highly recommend getting a coat hanger to push/pull the wiring under the cabin carpeting. It was counter-intuitive but it was easier to push the wiring backwards (towards the tail) once you go through the grommet. I spent a lot of time going forward not getting anywhere, it worked immediately going backwards towards the door.

A creeper helps but isn't necessary if you have a mat to work on. Its a tight fit in some areas without a lift/jack but doable. I'm not sure if the OEM kit comes in two segments like the Pop N' Lock, if it does connect under the bed I also recommend protecting the connectors with electrical tape if the instructions don't suggest it. You can also apply some electrical grease as well. There is also a section that may pass by the heat shield, you can fortify the wiring in that area with some Thermaflect tape (or similar product) to provide additional protection.

I don't see part # for it but you can look in the instructions here:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/2018-power-tailgate-lock-new-toyota-accessory.52150/#post-1359763

    additional pics here:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/oem-power-locking-tailgate.16097/page-2#post-1001825

I used Positaps which made the install very much "plug and play", the only stripping required is on the P n' L wiring.

You should inquire with your dealer about a factory full size blade.

The OEM instructions say that there is a conflict with the bed lighting kit, which I have. Does anyone know what the conflict is? Is it in the plug that the OEM has? Is it routing of wiring? Has anyone installed this with the OEM bed lighting kit?

The only thing i can see that conflicts with the two is the wire harnesses for each kit both run down the passenger side frame rails and into a body plug hole on the pessenger side. toyota probably deems two harnesses coming through the same grommet and routed together down the frame rail tobe too bulky, but in reality i dont see why both cant be indtalled.

I installed a Pop and Lock a couple years ago, not much to it.
As stated use Posi-taps and make sure you have a good connection before putting the interior back together.

If anyone buys a Pop and Lock for your Tundra, make sure you get their newer HD version, PL8547HD.
I think it may be quieter and than old style.
Also the HD has grommets for the door that accommodate 2 wires, instead of shoving 2 wires into the OEM grommet.

Etrailer and @Bakershack walmart link have a pretty good price on them..

I'm not 100% on this but consider a possibly current/fuse conflict if you use the power gate while the lights are on. What is the draw on the bed lights?

Thanks to all for the responses. I currently have those LEDs but plan to replace them with @mattgecko's bed lights. I will have to make sure I have enough juice. Matt wasn't sure of the current draw so I plan to measure it myself once I order and receive his lights. What have y'all used to seal the floor grommet after running multiple wires through there?

I just slapped some silicone caulk on it (from the inside), then covered it with a piece of foil so it wouldn't stick to the carpet..

One advantage of the locking tailgate is hearing it lock when walking away from the truck.
I don't always hear that 'beep' when it locks.
I also got tired of checking to see if it was locked because of my minor OCD issues..:eek2:

Toyota OEM Tundra Power Tailgate Lock kit for Longbed (will work with short-bed, just extra wire I believe). Part number is PK2B6-34JLO. Kit is brand new, just received from bam wholesale part @ $140. I needed one for a Tacoma and mistakenly ordered the Tundra kit, which I can't return since I opened the packaging. Easy install.

$120/OBO shipped. Send me PM if interested.

So I got this kit in about a month ago, took a day and decided to put it in. The directions were spot on, followed them step by step, and the thing went in without a hitch. Little worrisome pulling trim off my brand new truck, but it went back on easily. Also discovered that I’m a little too old and a little too round to be crawling under stock trucks, but the job got done.
Been on the truck for just over 3 weeks, and it works great. Little bit loud if your standing at the tailgate, but if you are locking/unlocking from sides as walking towards or away from the truck (you know, normal habits), I don’t notice a difference.
They one concern that I had was, if the tailgate was down and then I auto locked the doors, could I still close the gate. The answer is yes.
I think this is a great product and works outstandingly. Highly recommended.

I installed both. Only conflict was both harnesses run through the same grommet/hole in the passenger floor. I enlarged one grommet and taped and sealed with an rtv sealer. Everything else installed fine. Both work great.

Check the build link in my signature.
As others have said, you should have gotten a single full key as well. and a little silver badge with a number on it.
