I get that...half temped to have the wrecker with flat bed on it to stand by while I take mine out on the ice and just keep spinning in circles until it blows...or I run outta gas...
It's having those doubts in the back of one's mind keeping me from taking it on any long trips into the UP of MI that I resent.

Just a bit ago got a call from Toyota - my salesman- a remedy has been released and they are beginning to work towards fixing the steering issues. Ball is officially rolling. Great news!!

So this means tomorrow I call my dealer and get the same thing I got last month. " Hmmm. First we've heard of this."

Well, I certainly don't want to be in a hurry about this. Definitely don't want to be among the first, unless mine blows out lol

Same way I feel. Don't want anyone practicing on my truck. Fingers crossed they come up with a non invasive way to determine if we have the one of the bad racks.

Put $ down on Jan 3 on a 2021 that had a stop sell. Dealer called me on the 13th and said Toyota released the fix and mine should be ready in 2 weeks. Figuring I got another week or so to wait.

OK. Finally got some answers by calling the Toyota Customer Service number. With minutes I was able to speak to a gent named Alex that was able to bring up what is involved in determining if the rack is one of the potential bad ones. The first thing is to remove an under body cover and using a mirror inspect the punch marks. Using another resource compare the punch marks to determine if the rack is one of the affected racks. If not, good to go. If the punch marks are wrong, check for leaks. It goes downhill from there.
It does sound like there's a very good chance some of us might get lucky and get little more than a ride on a rack and a cover removed.
I have a call out to Bob Tyler in Pensacola to have mine checked.

Did he explain the process to correct the issue?

Sort of. I would have loved to had that information emailed to me but figured that wasn't going to happen. The process involves multiple items in a flowchart with the worst being the rack yanked for replacement. If I heard him correctly even if it doesn't pass the punchmark you still may not require replacement. One step was to check for leaks after failing the punchmark inspection and if I heard him correctly if no leaks, no replacement. This I may be wrong since the leaks we've been seeing are the result of a massive failure of the circlip not a gradual seal failure.
I have an appointment on Jan 25th for the inspection. I hate to say this but with my experience with Eastern Shores Toyota I forsee me getting into rather heated discussion with the service people there to get the job done correctly.

They called me about 2 hours after I posted and said my truck was ready for pickup. They had to have someone come inspect the truck before selling it to insure it was good to go and didn't need the power steering fix. All checked out and the truck is sitting in the garage.

I finally got the call - truck is ready and didn’t need work, slipped through the machines that were working properly. Too late to get it this weekend so it will be Monday now. I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas

I think you want to be in the 75% club though...aka The 3 Good Cutting Heads Club...;)

This sounds good though so far...at least there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Hopefully someone on the forum can get more information and pictures of the punch marks so we can climb under and check for ourselves . I’m thinking you just remove the skid plate and check the rack in the right place with a mirror.

The parts are on backorder. You can get the inspection done but as of now there is no ETA on parts. We have a handful ordered already.

Report back. Mine passed the punchmark test. I was the first one for the dealer to check. #2 was getting checked in as I left.

Are you guys calling the dealers first or did the dealers call you to notify you of the Recall? Has anyone got a notice from Toyota regarding the Recall? Toyota has not contacted me at all regarding this Recall.
