Maybe a sway bar is in order here? Really it should be called an Anti-Sway Bar!!

My steering was pretty good but not as responsive as my F250 super duty company truck. I’m just hoping they do a good job and there’s no issues down there road. I’m curious to see if the TRD sway bar helps at all too. I can’t wait until it’s done.

Got my notification in the mail last week, dropped it off for inspection at the dealership this morning. Just got the call back and I'm good to go. Thank goodness.

    Update:
My truck was left at the dealer so they could start on the repair when the parts came in.
My app notified me earlier that the doors were unlocked
10 minutes later I received a call from the service advisor letting me know the parts were delivered and they are starting on the repairs.
Confirmed they will install the TRD skid plate and TRD sway bar, as well as make sure the steering wheel is perfectly centered when they do the alignment.
So far, I’m pretty impressed with this service advisor.
Hopefully the tech does a good job too.

Any mechanics verify this? When my rack went out in my 2010, they billed around $3k for parts and labor. They said the book tells them to remove the engine or cab (can’t remember which). Thats definitely not a 3 hour job by the book.

3 Hrs. is only what warranty will pay the Tech, I'm sure it takes much longer than that for R/R. :(

Many, many years ago warranty work only paid 50% of the flat rate amount. I worked at a Chevy dealer in the late 70's and a new 4WD blazer came in with the threaded tab on the transmission case that held a vacuum servo that was broken off. It took me 8 hours to put a new transmission case on that blazer. Remove the tranny, strip it and put the guts in a new case then reinstall the transmission. I got paid 2.8 hours.

Haven't received a call from the dealer but ...
    Tuesday afternoon
    - App alerted me that the doors were unlocked.
    - Dealer called and said parts were in and they are going to start working on it.

    Wednesday
    - 8:30 am - App alerted me the hood was open and all doors were unlocked.
    - 3:20 pm - App showed all doors were closed and locked and hood was closed.

    Today
    - The app shows they took the truck for a short 1 mile drive yesterday from 3:05 -3:12
    - Past Trip report shows the route they took and 3 Harsh cornering and 1 Harsh Braking

I am assuming the truck is complete since they drove it.
Can this work be started without opening the hood?
How long does it take normally?
Is one mile enough of a drive to confirm there are no issues?
Should I call them out on the Harsh Alerts?

I'd say don't be that guy. I'm sure they are doing their best and not hot rodding your truck. I'd rather a tech try "harsh" maneuvering before I do.

If it was me test driving after all that work the alert would have been something like "Crazy man behind the wheel." I would want to put her through her paces to make sure everything was settled in and not leaking.

Who ya gonna believe the service dept or App?
How harsh is harsh enough for the app to report it? and is that really harsh-harsh or sort-of-harsh,medium harsh...
Can an app be kind of a p*ssy?
    I'm 72 I don't really "get" this sort of app I guess.

If it’s anything like the insurance companys tracking your drives, he probably saw a light go yellow and stopped so he didn’t run a red

I don't want to or plan to be that guy unless needed.
I agree that the app can be sensitive for lack of better words and may record "harsh" issues when they really aren't that bad.
I'll wait to see if the dealer calls today and go from there.
Hopefully everything went well and there no issues

As far as that job goes, for the mechanic.... it's nuts and bolts. If you were trying to get it done quickly, 3 hours isn't unreasonable. Pull the axles, disconnect the drive shaft from the front differential, pull the front differential. Remove the steering shaft from the rack, disconnect the lines from the rack and pull the rack.

Reinstall in reverse order, fill and align.

The app is definitely not a good way to measure “harsh” braking and turning. Whenever I take a normal, grandpa-ish drive, I end up with another harsh cornering strike. I drive like a bat out of hell and I get nothing.

Harsh Cornering also occurs when you make a U-Turn (like pulling back into the dealership) as I get it most days coming home on a semi-sharp right turn which has a YIELD and I take around 25mph if no cars… I love the fact I can see where my truck is at all times but the driving part of the app has its faults…

Got under my new 21 last night and the mark is in location “D”, so I should be good to go. I’ll get it checked on my 5000 mile service. Only at 400 miles and it’s not my daily, so that could be a while!

Update: Service Advisor called this morning
Stated truck was completed this morning.
I asked him to be honest with me and explain if it was done this morning, why has been sitting since Wednesday afternoon untouched, No doors unlocked, no hood open and not drove since.
He said that the app must not be correct.
I explained to him that to date the app has been very accurate regarding doors and hood be unlocked or open and parking and trip reports.
I am a little upset that they flat out lied to me which leads me to trust them less, and have less faith that everything was done correctly.

Sounds like your app can see into the future. Yeah, someone's fibbing and either way it's Toyota's lie. How long of a delay is there before a tracked item happens on your truck and you get the notification? If it's quickly, I'd show the dealer when your doors are unlocked and your Tundra is brought to you.

Overall the app updates the next day but you can get realtime warnings of open doors and see where your truck is located anytime…

    I picked the truck up.
Talked to the manager about when it was done and explained the situation.
He agreed it was done Wednesday.
No excuse as to why I wasn’t notified before today or why I was lied to.
He did apologize and said he would address it with the people as needed.
They did put the TRD sway bar and the TRD skid plate on for no cost and so far no noises. No evidence of leaks either.
    How does the alignment look?

So they put on the skid plate and sway bar for free and you still complained to a manager and tried to get someone in trouble?

I don’t tolerate lying from anyone.
I asked him specifically to be honest and don’t lie to me and he still did. I gave the guy a couple chances to admit the truth but he never did. I told the manager the service advisor did a great job up until he lied to me.

If I make a mistake, I want to know about it so I can learn from it and grow. If everyone let people get away with this crap, they would never learn.
I got in trouble when I was 18 and it changed my life in so many ways. It sucked at the time, but I learned a lot from it. If I didn’t get in trouble then, who knows where I would be today.

    However
I did follow up with an email to the manager and the advisor and thanked them both for what they did.

I am sitting at Family Toyota of Burleson (waiting for recall inspection result). My amateur inspection indicated that I was an unlucky one.
