Power steering recall

Our pro in in the shop right now awaiting inspection...

 

Just received my letter about a week ago. I am waiting for the 5k service to take mine in. Would there be any issue with a RCI skid installed? I put the skid on about 2 weeks ago and noticed some oil on the plastic cartridge. I snugged things up and have check the oil level. Anyone else have this?

 

They have to get into the underneath to take a picture. If they can not get to it thru the plate for the oil change then they will have to move it out of the way??

man I fixed all that crap!! Arthritis and spell check make for a mess!!! Wow!!!

 

I figured they would have to remove it, I suppose I will double check the re-install when they are done.

 

Failed the inspection! Got a loaner. I knew more about the recall than the service writer

Mine is a Pro and mine was cleared - this process is supposed to take 1.5hrs in total as it’s 15min to snap a pic and then send to headquarters for an answer…

Toyota handled this badly...I hope they make everyone who needs it... whole and quickly.

 

Took a little over two hours to get mine inspected. Mine was in B, and was indeed bad. The dealership gave me a loaner Tacoma without me even having to ask, a reversal of what they'd told me over the phone, which was nice.
I'd said from the start that the steering on my Tundra wasn't as precise as I expected for a new vehicle, not even as precise as my old 2500HD with 215,000 miles on it. Maybe the rack was contributing to that and it'll come back better than new, like WarEagle1 experienced above. Should have it back Thursday or so and will let folks know how it is.

 

Checked mine today stamped in the B pie, goes in Wednesday for
Official inspection,

 

Sorry you got the bad news today but at least it didn’t blow up on you while driving and you have a rental truck in the meantime - I’m sure it will come back better than it was prior!!

Sorry about the B stamp hopefully turns out to be something else and if not you get yours taking care of and returned better than new...and they treat you decently in the meantime.

 

Managed to get a look at mine today, looks like my stamp is in the A pie piece. Guess I’ll wait for the 5000 mile service and let the dealer check it then. Finally feel like I can relax and drive the truck without worrying about a failure

 

I was going to wait for the 5k service too (took it in at 3500) but felt like I was playing Russian Roulette

 

Why are you guys having it checked again if the stamp inspection checked out ok?

 

I checked it myself and it looks like I’m in the clear but my truck ( vin number ) will still show an open recall until the dealer checks it and clears it. So when I’m due for service at 5000 miles I’ll let the dealer check it then.

 

Mine stayed in the App as still being on recall for about 2 weeks after the dealer confirmed good to go and then it finally clicked off… I was thinking I may need to call someone for a minute there!

 

Where are you finding the notice on the app?
Unless I missed it, it is not on mine.

 

For peace of mind, so the dealer can get paid, because some of these are brand new vehicles, and on and on and on.

 

So basically you are just having them double check to make sure there are no leaks even though it passed the recall inspection?
I can understand this but hopefully if it passes the recall inspection it wont have any issues.

Found it! it was a hidden card

 

Appointment scheduled for 8am Saturday to inspect the rack.

 

Was in on Monday and passed the inspection. Total time in was about two hours taking advantage of free WIFI and gourmet coffee.

 

Crickets from dealer since my truck failed the inspection. Told me they needed parts and couldn't give me an ETA. Im trying to be patient but I'm not impressed at all
