So about a month ago I got a slightly used Shop Fox table saw for pretty darn cheap. Came with a ton of stuff (tenoning jig, storage cabinet made out of *cherry*, fence, etc).

But for some reason...not a miter gauge.

Anyways, my question is - are most table saws' miter gauges pretty interchangeable? I need to buy one and would like to not insult my table saw with the cheapest one out there...but I'm not sure if Shop Fox uses what I guess I'd call a 'standard' miter gauge track size, and would like something decent (maybe an Incra or a Kreg).

just measure the width of the track, you're probably fine using whatever brand you like.

That's kinda what I thought; pretty sure I'll need to order though. Not sure I'll buy one locally - pretty sure Lowe's/Home Depot have any worth a darn, and the closest decent place to buy one from (Grizzly or Rockler's) are both >100 miles away. (Civil service employee)

Most towns have a local tool shop that service professionals craftsman/shops/builders. They have more knowledge, can do repairs and get parts for tools. Even in my small town we have one. You may pay a few dollars more but it's nice to have these business' around. Worth looking into.

Yep, I was able to get my wife to get me the model # (W1820) and from there, it says in the manual that it's got 3/4" width, 3/8" depth. Now I can order one. Yay! Thanks all! :)

I worked in cabinet shop for several years. Now the thing about table saws is they are un forgiving. Many of the old timers in the shop was missing either a finger, thumb, and one only had right little pinky. All of them tangled with a table saw. Though for me, it was a shaper. I fed the wood in the wrong direction, and it pulled my hand into the cutter. I just could nt let go of the wood fast enough. It got about 1/4 " of my middle finger.
