Orca bit that mako in half? I don’t think so but something huge got it. I know orcas like to eat the livers from white sharks but biting a mako that size in half. Crazy

The Canyons are just a few miles off shore, lol.
They are 130 NM South from Cape Cod and 180 NM from the coast of NJ.

Here is a nice one caught offshore Port Aransas Texas. Daytime sword fishing. They are very good at fishing for Broadbill Swordfish. Daughter will be going out here in a couple weeks. She is going fishing for what turns out to be two days. A few years back the owner’s son of the boat she is going out on (his son 15 or 16 years old) hooked on to a monster from the deep and he was on the rod for over 24 hours. Never saw the fish and it went where ever it wanted to go. In fact they thought it was still feeding while they were hooked up! Finally tightened the drag and broke off.

New to tundras, but not to Toyotas or fish. I live in eastern nc, drum and trout are a couple of my favorites to catch around here. Here’s a drum from my previous fall season and the trout I’m most proud of.

Thank you sir. It was a warm week in January right after a cold spell. There were schools of puppy drum that were flushed out of the inlet from the cold sound waters. Guess this trout decided it wanted to go with them. Other than a cobia, it’s my favorite surf catch.

read articles in fishing magazines and always have wanted to see about landing a monster spec in the surf. We catch em along the beach front here but one like that does not happen to often. Once in awhile at the jetties we can hook into a good one but we find the bigger ones in the bay.

they say ours is not like yours, two different species, and y’all seem to have bigger ones in the surf usually.

Most recent catch while out camping.
1.17, personal best for me catching some Smallies.

This one actually broke the tip of my rod too.

Then again, I reeled it in way too far.

It’s pretty common here certain times of the year. Night time tides on a full moon in November can produce some bigg fish on a 52mr mirrolure. Typically throughout the year I’m catching 18-22” fish on the sound side. Our class of fish has definitely gotten better over the past 10yrs though. These fish used to not be common at all.

I’ve not heard that, could be possible though.

Side note. I never looked into the nutritional value of Pike until now. They’re pretty absurdly packed with nutrients

    Thanks!
One of the many trips to that lake; last morning trolling across the lake, my oldest caught a nice brown, and as he was pulling it into the boat it got off and slapped him in the face hahahah he definitely still talks about that to this day!!!!

Yee. Same here LOL. Guys, you’re required to fish with your lure for a minimum of 5 minutes before I will change it out

Up until recently I got away with just tying a stick or something on and they would cast all day, then I started cutting the hooks on jigs and frogs, that didn’t last long “there’s no hook!!!” The hooks are my main concern. My buddy hooked himself good on that same lake, and it’s almost 2 hours down the mountain to the hospital. We tried out on the water but he kept screaming every time I tried to push it thru!!!! Hahaha which then I got pale and started to get all woozy watching it not happening! Fish and game guy was cool and asked(he knew) our catches and limits, but offered no help other than good luck down the mountain!
