Thanks! We caught Brown, Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Bowcut trout during the trip this past August/September. Here's another from the trip:

The rod in my pic is an 8' 3/4 wt, but I've got lighter rods in the quiver too. There's so many good places to go in Colorado!

OK, here's a challenge for all of the Fisher-people here. WTF is this? I caught it in a canal near the Miami airport on a minnow. I've asked on other forums, fishing shops, and friends, and no one really knows. I caught it in the rocks along the shore.

Couple kings (Chinook) - this year's 5 day trip featured rain everyday, maybe a total 1.5 hours of actual sun, but amazing fishing (think that rain, wind, cold forced all those fishies up river). But lines were tight and the beer went down smooth. So no complaints for anyone.

Google lens says it's a chub, aka carp.
I don't know about ugly, but he's definitely interesting looking. Bless his little heart.

Knew it was some sort of Chub, couldn't/ can't figure out for life of me what kind. Definitely one of the craziest looking fish I have caught.

What Causes It? Melanosis is a genetic condition seen in mature fish following several years of sun exposure.

Caught my PB in 2003 in West Virgina on a family vacation, I was 15 at the time of the catch, pry 25 in this pic. 7 lb 4 oz, 21.5". Caught on a green pumpkin lizard, Texas rigged.

My now wife's dog actually ate this mount about 7 years ago. I'm still devastated

I probably should have tagged that post “sarcasm”. Lots of people eat and enjoy carp. The carp I tried were from the Verde River, in Arizona. Tasted like mud, just like the catfish, even smoked. I have since learned that it has a lot to do with the preparation. My dad had a girlfriend from Poland and the prep started with 3 days in a tub of fresh water while the fish was still alive. Cleans em up, I guess.
Still, I think it’s an acquired taste, to a large degree. Cultural aspects are a factor too. I’d be willing to give it another try if done by someone that knows their stuff!

This place gets em alive scales them chop em in three or four pieces scores the chunks flours them in their mixture and fries them!!! Don’t ask me but it is that simple!! red meat and all. They do have a nice hot sauce that is dang tasty (it would make a tennis shoe taste good!!) but it is not to hot and is just the right heat and spice. That is how they have done it this whole time. Wanted to go out last trip up North but it did not happen. I have eaten there before and for Carp it is tasty!!:)
