Just put led up some ice rods to try ice fishing for the first time. Targeting trout in Utah at Panguitch and bigger trout at fish lake. My only question is what type of main line should I run?

thinking of either 10lb braid with a 5 ish pound fluorocarbon leader of about 3 feet. Either that or just all 6lb fluorocarbon

Floated an Oregon north coast river on Saturday. We had lots of opportunities, some didn't stick and other were natives. I was able to bring 1 home.

It’s not the size of the fish in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the fish, right? :) Asking for a friend with a small trout. :D

Palomino trout. Didn’t get a weight because we had to release immediately.

Yeah, we spent about 5 hours getting one once we spotted them. First time I've ever seen them in CO.

Very spooked fish, even more so than native brookies. Had to cast about 20 ft upstream and through trial and error float it by their head.

California. Salmon, striped bass, boat limit of ling cod and cray fish is in the NorCal area from San Francisco, Monterey, Rio Vista and Big Sur. Rest were out of SoCal from Oxnard (big Reds), Newport (Trigger, Rockcods/yellowtail(not pictured) and San Diego for Tuna chasing which are usually caught between San Clemente and Mexico. Longest i've done so far is a 3 day trip, hope to do longer in the future when kids get older.

if you were harvesting within legal limits, then well done!
if you were catch & releasing, you might want to read up on fish handling techniques. Those lip grippers are known to cause some pretty bad damage on trout.

In Texas we think those boga grips are better for the fish than netting. That’s saltwater trout though. They actually taste good to eat
