Finally, a late season whitetail with my compound bow today. Many years of bow hunting went into this one.

Had a friend show up at elk camp in his new Subaru wagon. I asked "what's the plan if you get an elk?" and his reply was "I brought a couple coolers". They were probably a 70qt and a 50qt Colemans. Any elk he got was going to wind up in my Tundra .

Then again, some years ago I did bring a bear home tied onto the swim platform of my ski boat (long story).....

Used a bronco II for many years. Just got to bring plastic with you and there's no clean out needed afterwards.

Big enough to fit a whitetail!
I threw them in the trunk of my old Camry for years before I got the truck.
Pic below was shortly before I got the Tundra. I knew it was a “smaller” doe before I shot, but there was serious ground shrinkage. Turned out to be a button buck. Felt kinda bad about that.
    IMG_4958.jpg

Yes, that’s the front seat of the Camry. Poor little dude.

The bull is absolutely amazing, there are a few up there with genetics like that. The guy that killed it is a clown super rich and buys raffle tags and gov tags every year in Wa. That bull was on a golf course and fed by the people who lived in the neighborhoods around it.

Also I live 20 min from where this bull was killed and would go up there often. Pretty sad demise in my opinion for the old boy getting shot off a pile of hay in the end of December.

Yeah unfortunately when they get that big and are as visual as this one was they are either going to get poached, hit by a car or killed by someone with a lot of money. But he spread his genes pretty damn well so hopefully he will live on.

Them’s Roosevelt elk in WA, yeah? Bigger than Ricky Mountain elk. I was stationed in Everett in the late 90s & got to hunt them a couple times. We never got any but saw some.

    Ended a dry spell....

Went to Hawaii to stay at a friend's condo and I am not a beach person... made a deal with the wife if we went...

Never thought I would drive a Ford Mustang Convertible (rental, what a piece of sh!t) to go hunt at the base of a volcano and shoot an Axis buck....
