I started getting back into hunting last year after a long hiatus. I got out today for a bit and got my first kill in 10+ years.

 

Bonus points for using a single shot.

I've got an H&R 410 that has taken a LOT of grouse...
I need to get back into the woods.

It's a good area for waterfowl.

 

I know you WY boys have high standards as far as antelope go, but I’d say that’s a nice buck

 

One shot, one kill. Stalked him for a solid 15 minutes from my front porch before luring him in close. Just before the kill shot, I could have literally reached out and touched him with a bat. He didn’t even see me; it was like I had assimilated my person with the concrete steps while I breathed out mouse whispering full of tantalizing cheese and peanut butter goodness. Took the poor sucker at two yards with a fifth of green sidewalk chalk that my kids left out, fired from an old school arm cannon with a hint of wrist whip and tasteful touch of finger flip. The projectile detonated beautifully on impact transferring most of the kinetic energy to the carcass with minimal damage to the pelt. Well placed shot if I do say so myself. If you look closely, you can see some of the chalk fragments next to the exsanguination site. Sadly, there wasn’t enough chalk left to outline the site, but that’s a trade off I’m willing to a make for such stellar lethal performance from the projectile. I didn’t want the meat to go to waste so it made for a quick meal. For the neighbors cat, that is. Cuz that’s how I roll.

I don’t think it’s an old version. My dad bought it around 99 or 2000, new. Been a great rifle. Killed over 20 elk with it and lots of deer and antelope.

 

Maybe I will drag the pile out one day and post some pics.

They're great rifles. I have an 30-06 mfg 1979 and it's still one of the best shooters in the collection.
