Awesome - I was wondering because of the lack of snow. Great looking elks!

Yeah this was during first rifle. It actually snowed about a foot the day before the season started and then melted off pretty quick on all the southern slopes. Made for a fun hunt!

Did a preserve hunt today. Turned into a kind of "real" hunt since I blew most the shots on my birds.

    Cleaned up on holdovers though.

Any turkey hunters use or hear about David Halloran calls? Talked to a guy yesterday who was singing their praises - saying they sound phenomenal. Very expensive, too. Waiting for one to arrive in a few weeks. Reviews/thoughts on them?

In the market for a 2nd dog and have been looking hard at PPs. I have a Braque Francais now and he is incredible but not for cold water waterfowl hunting.

She has been an incredible dog, was too young to get her into waterfowl this year so I cant comment on cold hardiness.

My 2021 archery buck! I need to get a nice baseplate for it, but it looks pretty sweet naked on the black wall for the time being.

Ha, stole the photo from the taxidermist's page, they post photos of whatever they finish. Kind of a cool photo-op type thing.

So, I have a hunting lease. A dear friend gave me this sweet rifle rest, so I put it up on the tree stand with the longest-range view across the property. I will be out here with a bow in the fall, but come rifle season, I’m sure I’ll still need to thin the does out. There are tons of them. We see groups of 4-5 on a regular basis. The adjacent landowners are really wanting us to control the population more than the previous lessees. Hunting season doe limit in middle Tennessee is 3/day. :eek2:

Last Saturday. Sunrise 6:22. Turkey down 6:30.

Home 2 hours after I left. My dad used to always say “if you’re not sufferin, you’re not huntin.” No suffering on this hunt.

That's just said by those that are not lucky enough to get one that early.

Although when I got my elk last fall I said something similar. Told my dad I felt cheated. Elk was at the butcher by noon and having lunch at 12:30.

Good thing I have months to do so before hunting out of that stand.
