Soo...what now...they allow live aboards on this side of the bridge now. The used to be confined to the other side by Glorietta Bay and the golf course.

THE NAKED WARRIOR​

This World War II combat swimmer commemorates the U.S. Navy’s Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) and Sea, Air and Land (SEAL) Teams. They have trained and have been in Coronado since 1945.

These “Naked Warriors” swam unarmed onto heavily defended enemy beaches with explosives to clear the way for amphibious landings, hence their motto “First Ashore.” The concrete “Scully” on which this Frogman stands is typical of the underwater obstacles they risked their lives to destroy. Their legacy of “Never Quit,” while executing the most difficult military missions for our country, is still imbued in every Navy SEAL whose uniforms sears the Naval Special Warfare Trident insignia. On the beaches just south of this site, Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training goes on year-round. The sailors who complete BUD/S go on to advanced training and then are assigned to U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, becoming the elite warriors our country relies upon for complex and no-fail special operations missions worldwide.

Home, in Northern California between the state’s majestic coast and the rolling hills east of San Francisco. The shot from the hills is from our kitchen window, albeit during fire season hence the glow. (That fire was last year and 150 miles away in the Sierra Nevada.)

 

Stormy day in the south end of San Diego Bay. This weather front actually produced a bit of much needed precipitation in SoCal.

How Cool is that ! Fantastic . . . !

 

We're walking on the Mike and Pat McCoy trail today and I see what looks like a stick in the middle of the path ~ its's not a stick, it's a juvenile rattle snake of some sort.



He's resting and absorbing the heat collected by the gravel on the path.
He's not about to move so I grab a stick and prod him along into the brush along side the trail ~ there are folks headed our way walking their doggies.

On the way out I see some stuff that folks have hung out to dry ~ interesting to say the least.





It's part of a lobster carcass sitting atop a post in the ground ~ there's a bunch of them on display.



Here's my favorite ~ the remains of a nice fish someone cleaned and served for dinner !
