Possible New Owner

Hey yall...

I am in Maryland, Southern Maryland to be exact....

I am working on my first Tundra purchase, but I am having some issues with the dealer not wanting to play ball...

Long story short, I am looking at a 19 Tundra in Silver Metallic...
I've asked for the following:
Remote Start
Bedliner
8 years 125 Warranty with Toyota VSA Plat plan....
OTD they are quoting me 56k... To me this is high.....
Of course I wanted the 1.9 @72 months, and therefore they cant take the additional 2500 off...

I think I can get another dealership to right at 54k...

I was curious what a SOLID deal is these days on these trucks....

The truck does have running boards as an added option..

I bought my tundra through Costco, Bought it in 2016. It's a 2016 sr5 5.7 4x4 double cab, trd package, 100,000 mile warranty with some extra equipment (running boards, high end Entune system, under seat storage, middle bench seat, for 37,100 before taxes and warranty. After all was said and done I paid around 43,000 OTD had them give me the rebate instead of the low interest rate and then went to my credit union and got 1.74 financing 60 months. Look at Costco. Maybe worth the 50 dollar membership.

That is correct, I have gotten numbers OTD with TTL, and the "addins" which are the remote start, bedliner, and the 8 yr/125k warranty....

 

@Tundyfundy Not a bad idea at all ! Problem is I have looked at my credit unions and all of them are in the 3-4% for new trucks... Very odd because I belong to several Navy related Credit unions.

 

Yeah we got a killer deal but they should at least be able to give you 2.24 or something, especially for servicemen! Good luck my friend. The great part is Toyotas hold value so it's money well spent. Also if you wait till the end of the year you could probably get a heavy discount on the 2019 due to the 2020 models being available.

 

You can get the remote start , plug and play for around $200/$250 (Ebay) and do the install yourself....easy 15 minute install. Bed liner would be cheaper on the outside, you could probably get a drop in one cheap or free on Craigslist. As for the warranty you have time to get that and there are posts on here about that if you do a search.

 

You must have ESP LOL ! I was thinking the same thing.... the 2020's are coming out soon, and I agree 10000%. I know they hold their value which is one of the reasons I am looking at them. I test drove, the High Country, the Ram 1500, F150 and Tundra and we fell in love with the Platinum Tundra.... Just a well built machine....

With that being said, above the 2020's are coming out soon so the 19's they are going to have to let go..... I am curious what the next rebate will be....

 

There’s a lot of Toyota dealers in that area. Shop around and use theirs quotes against each other. Bought my current truck at ourisman in fairfax. I’d recommend them. I got quotes from 4 different dealers first though.

If a dealer knows the truck you want is on another’s lot and they make a better deal, they can trade the other dealer for it.

 

That is what I am doing as I speak I have gone to three dealers

 

I also used truecar and started with their online sales person first. Got the best they said then went in a talked to a manager. Didn’t mess with the salesperson that didn’t even speak english. Have you tried truecar?

 

Honestly I havent.... I know the Owners of Bayside in Southern Maryland and I feel its a decent deal but it could get better.....

As mentioned remote start and bedliner done much cheaper outside of dealership. I would try to make them give you a bedliner to sweeten the deal.

Also, the warranty can be purchased at a later date as well. You will have a 3yr/36 mth factory warranty anyway.

 

My kicker is the 0% interest and it goes up 2500 because of the rebate.....

I asked for both to come off and that’s $800 off.....

 

Have you shopped for financing? 1-2% at a Credit Union or bank would likely be worth getting the rebate.

 

Just got a 2019 with 0% through Toyota. The lower the interest rate, the lower the rebates. That's the way it works with Toyota dealers. My truck had about $5000 worth of incentives, but since I qualified for 0%, I was only allowed a rebate of $1500.

 

Navy federal and a local credit union are 3% sorta wild.....

I'm curious about the next rebate too. I've been following the monthly Tundra sales figures and they have been lower this year compared to last year. It could be the perfect storm to get a great deal...

 

I think we are going to hold off to see what happens after June 3rd.......

 

Always hearing end of month inspires dealers to get their sales numbers up. Also, on a weekend like this one (tomorrow/Sunday), sales might be applied towards May's sales numbers.

 

One time I went to a Nissan dealer ( I know, I know) and told them I wanted a particular truck for a certain price. They declined but kept calling me back to get the truck. I said sure I’ll come down if you give it to me for my price. They refused.they Called for three weeks, each time refusing my price and I’d say, well when your ready give me a call. Last day of the month they called and said come down that they’ll honor my price. BOOM. Take no prisoners and hold your ground!
