2020 CrewMax SR5 - no CD player. Q: Thinking of buying a portable CD player to play Discs in the truck. Ones I have looked at on Amazon have the 3.5mm output for speakers or headphones. The truck does not have a 3.5 input jack. Would a 3.5 to USB CABLE work in the USB port to play through the truck? A friend told me it wouldn’t as it is analog going to digital. But what do I know? Anyone try this yet?

CD's? Put them in the box with your old cassettes and VHS tapes! But you can get a CD player with blue tooth, google it. My .02 cents worth from an old guy, 67 and all my tunes are MP3's on flash drives!

I just replaced my failing aftermarket Pioneer 4400 with a Kenwood Excelon DMX906S.
The Kenwood has no CD player, it was $200 cheaper the the same unit with a CD player.
I have an office box full of CDs, but I haven't played one in I don't know how long..

If only I could get this to run in my Tundra...:eek2:

Not sure about the 3.5mm to USB adapter, but you can get a Bluetooth transmitter that takes the 3.5mm input, changes it to a BT signal, and connect it to your BT audio input.

    Like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Tao...luetooth+3.5mm+adapter&qid=1582894660&sr=8-10

I still have CD's also and am too lazy to convert

What about a double din cd player to replace the stock radio?
Cd, mp3, flac etc.. all in one.
Ofcourse you'd need a dash kit and radio adapter harness. But that's simple to do.
Unless you are wanting to retain factory look.

Why not just sync the Bluetooth on your phone and download the free YouTube music app. You can pretty much get any song you want.

And yes I am no stranger to one of these bad boys connected to my disc man lol

I tried to find something on the web unfortunately CD's are headed down that road of non-existence. You can always get a CD player with a speaker on it like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XM8F3Z...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I just bought a 2020 4Runner a couple weeks ago. I’m sure it probably has the same system. Like you, I have no 3.5mm port. I bought a Bluetooth CD player and it won’t connect. So, like you mentioned bought a 3.5 to usb cord and it won’t recognize that either. May just be out of luck.

I bought a 128 gb thumb drive for my truck music. Worked initially when I had all my music in separate folders but it was too slow to load the list of folders so I had to listen to the same album over and over again. Then I formatted it and loaded all my music in the same folder and now it won't work. So needs some more troubleshooting.

I just bought a portable CD player to play in the car and Tundra. It has the 3.5 mm output for audio. Works great and sounds great in the car. Bought a 3.5mm to USB Adapter. Plugged it into the Tundra. Didn’t work. Worth a try. But I can use a external speaker with it if we travel in the truck.
I noticed the Apps screen has USB in the APPS SCREEN. But it won’t highlight in my truck.
