The crazy thing is too. I took my rear sway bar off seeing if that was causing an issue and I love how it rides now with the addition of the RAS minus the sway bar. There’s not much roll but the suspension acts independently on each side. I’m going to be bummed if this system doesn’t work out.

Well if all else doesn't work, maybe make sure your pinion angle is slightly downward just a couple of degrees. Mine is not comparable since I have traction bars and there is about zeeo chance of axle wrap regardless of how hard it wants to try. All planned.

Yep, handling is in the suspension and tires for sure. Makes for some fun, but gotta beef up the front to match. More $$$$!

Haha the funny thing is I changed how I worded that a few times and this was the version that sounded the cleanest.

I'm guessing this is done via axle shims huh? In my case that is

Yeah, that works, but hopefully you can simply play with your carrier bearing spacing if nothing else cures the problem first.

Yeah I think its the alcans. It seems like the rod is off center of sorts. Is there any way for you to lift up the eyelet plates? Im wondering if you grinded the threads down smooth where the grease is it would stop popping. Or maybe over time the friction causing the pop will smooth it all the way down.

Yeah I thought about that. Or adding some type of spacer to lift that hook section a bit. I also wonder if moving the front bolt will change the angle for the better. If I go back a hole. Not sure the intention of that design but I’m assuming it’s for something related to adjustments. I’m going to try a few things tomorrow

Yep! Thats been my experience too and I've posted that info on some of the threads about RAS. Honestly, I try to recommend the RAS to anyone thinking of buying a new sway bar via Toyota. RAS is more but you get more benefits and a better ride. Only time it does seem ideal is for folks not wanting the increased lift (which is a small percentage).

Hope you get the noise sorted, been following the thread but haven't had anything to add.

So just an update, unfortunately I tried the next hole and no luck. Still continued to pop intermittently and there wasn't enough threads to go to the 3rd. Tried to adjust the tension as well and no luck there either. I emailed RAS and they basically said if I tried all those things, then there was nothing else that could be done. His theory as others has been is that the Alcan's were just too thick with the amount of leaves. So I took it apart today and boxed it back up to send back. I did notice a nice amount of small gashes on each of the cup bearings, so that was definitely the culprit. Oh well, maybe this'll help someone avoid the hassle in the future if they catch this thread.

Well that isn't much good news! Have a plan B? Was this the standard kit or the HD version? Secondly, I wonder if you could post some pictures of what you saw as the issue for folks here both now and in the future?

It was the standard kit, but get this. I pulled out yesterday morning after I removed the RAS and guess what didn’t go away? The damn popping sound. I now remember I swapped out my fox rear shocks with my Toytecs at the same time I did the RAS. I wonder if something is up with the Toytecs. They were sitting in my garage for a month and I just tried a cheap set of fox shocks and didn’t like how soft they were so I went back. Once again though it only pops when I start pulling out of my driveway.

Well go back and read post #23. There you will find where I wrote sometimes these sounds aren't what you suspect. Not at all funny, but true. Now what, gonna keep the RAS? Good luck and just so you know, there is a product called chassis ear that can help with diagnosing this crap.

Keep the RAS! Just my vote.

+1 for good luck on finding the problem! @Nbab23 If you still have the Fox shocks it makes a quick swap for diagnosis easy, or whatever else you can find for cheap/free.

Yeah, the only change in my mind was the RAS, didn't even think the shock swap could be an option for where the noise was coming from and yeah I think I'll keep em.

Thanks and yeah that's the plan, going to keep the RAS and swap out the shocks to see if that's the issue.

So just a brief update. The popping sounds which coincidentally began the exact same time as I installed the RAS were found to be related to rear brake pads that basically became one with my rotors. Every morning when I pulled out I heard the sound of the pads releasing from the rotors. Crazy how a completely unrelated thing can come up just as I installed a mod.
