    Hi,

My coworker and I were having a discussion on whether tundra buyer would prefer to have either a) chrome door handles and chrome mirror covers or b) color matched door handles and mirror covers. Please tell me your preference if given the choice by Toyota to go with a or b. Feel free to post your thoughts. Thanks

Depends on what else is chrome or color matched. I have chrome wheels and it goes well with the little chrome I have on the door handles, mirrors, Tundra emblem and motor badge. For my Tundra I'd say option A

A little of this and a little of that.
Given the options you posted I'd have to say color matched. However, I prefer black over anything else. Matte black to be specific.

I'm kind of the minority on here, because I like the chrome. :crapstorm:That being said, I'm also a fan of color matched. I don't like the flat black handles and mirrors, I think they look cheap. That probably comes from being a long time Honda guy and the base bare bones models had flat black mirrors and handles.

Color match first. Matte black 2nd. I can't count the number of posts to Roman about color matched parts. I can't remember any posts requesting chrome. Maybe the chrome guys are just stayin' in the closet......lol

I like chrome on the bumpers and grill. I purchased nerf bars that are chrome. As far as door handles and mirrors I like the color matched. My mirrors are black but I do not plan on changing them.

You are going to get a biased sample with this question.

Most forum members do not like chrome. Some hate it and they let you know very loudly about their hatred.

Most truck owners like chrome. (It's (almost) always upper trim that's loaded with chrome and work truck that's blacked out. It would be cheaper for manufacturers to make everything blacked out--or even color-matched.)

I remember when 3rd generation Tundras first came out, most forum members were calling it fugly (they especially hated the amount of chrome in the front end--remember that 3rd gen has bigger grille). I showed some pictures to some non-forum (non-Toyota) truck owners and their favorite part was chrome-full front end.

I live in a truck country where every other or every 3rd vehicle is a truck. Looking at the amount of after-market chrome on their trucks, I could see why manufacturers still make most of their trucks with chrome.

Don't go by what others think. What do YOU like? I've seen some nice trucks in both styles.

Color Matched gets my vote. I agree with Brian, when I think of chrome I think of my buddies 69 Goat, candy apple red with chromed out engine and wheels.

I love chrome on a classic but prefer color match on new vehicles. The color match looks much cleaner to me on a newer vehicle.

I vote to get rid of all of the chrome. For one it would make the trucks less desirable south of the border. I think they refer Chevys down there but best to be safe.

I prefer the color match ones myself. If what you're saying is correct about it being cheaper to make every truck with color matched handles and mirrors, why don't Toyota do that since chrome is way more unpopular compare to the color match ones from what I read. You think Toyota got it wrong?

As a group, we forum members are very small minority. If we were large enough for Toyota to cater to our taste, they would've offered real 3rd gen Tundras with larger engine, more gears, perhaps even with diesel, or CM with longer bed. Why do you think Toyota (along with other manufacturers) offer trucks with lots of chrome even though the majority on forums vehemently hate chrome? Perhaps, . . . I don't know, . . . perhaps . . . the majority taste is different from the forum taste?

Personally, I don't cater to any others' taste, neither forum nor general public. I do what I like. . . . and yes, I do pay for my own mods.

I think the majority of the truck buyers like chrome. Just look at all the chrome grills, surrounds, and chrome wheels making a comeback. Apparently they think Texans (largest truck market) like chrome. GM and Ford Texas editions have chrome wheels.
