Are you willing to make an extension harness for aftermarket switches or have an idea where to find the plugs to make my own? It's for the OEM fit push button switches a lot of us use for lightbars and stuff. As best I can tell, Air On Board and Amazoon and others all appear to use same plug. Below are pics I found on a few different sites.
I want to move my switches but don't want cut and resolder the current connections. Just simple plug-n-play extension. All low power since switches are rated 3A max.

They are JAE and they do have male and female connectors. I’m not sure if I’ve seen an extension harness but I’ve never looked.

I believe this is the female. Then there is a mating male and terminals of course. Then 22 gauge wire and tubing or braided sleeve. Mouser also has them I believe.

They are kind of a pain to crimp.

No solutions for 3rd gen yet but if anyone has one in the Denver area for @Puppypunter to tinker with, hit him up.

We talked about a few ideas but nothing obvious right now.

The Curt module with L and R side T harnesses seems viable but that’s $200 just to get a third brake light signal.

Possibly the best source may be the cab 3rd brake light or just capturing at the pedal.

Tow connector is stop and turn for L and R as far as I’m aware.

Any option for a similar harness for the turn signals?

I have a multi output light that I'd like to use for the turn signals as well. Already using this harness for red on brake and want to tap the red flash for turn as well....

I’m way behind right now. Gonna try to churn through the queue though. But new orders won’t get started on this week, for sure.

Good Afternoon Jonny I know this is an old thread hoping that you may still have a solution available, as I purchased a topper and despise the vampire connectors equally. I have a third gen Tundra 2023 SR5 and would like to use your solution. What is the status on availability, and will this work for my 3rd Gen truck? Thank you kindly for the reply!

Curious if you have a harness for the 3rd gen Tundra to a Leer cap available? I was lucky enough to pick up a used Leer, had it painted now I'm just missing the 3rd brake light & dome function. I didn't get the pigtail from TAG box when I bought it but figured I could pick one up from the local dealer. I've been searching most of the night trying to figure out where to tap into the brake lights and the more I'm reading, the less I want to just tap the wires. I'd happily buy a PNP kit from y'all to make this happen and not mess up my wiring somehow.
The Leer on my 3rd gen Tacoma was soo much easier.
    Thanks

So I have the cab third brake light connectors for 4th gen Tacoma ready to try out but no willing participant to drop the headliner.

I don’t know which connectors are used for the third brake light in a 3rd gen tundra. If anyone wants to get photos, that could work.

I think that’s the most straightforward route. More work to get it to the shell but you wouldn’t need a logic box and taps on both taillights so you’re trading off extra wire length and routing through the cab for reduced cost and complexity.

So you're looking for a pic of the third brake light connector on the back of the cab?
And just so we're talking apples to apples, this is on the 3rd Gen tundra, not 4th gen Taco, correct.
And last question, where would you expect the connector to be in the headliner? I'm thinking of I pull my cap back a couple feet it may be easier to just pull the 3rd brake light from the cab to get a look at the connector. Thoughts?

Ideally photo and the 5 digit number printed on the connector. It’s tiny and very hard to read / photograph. I’m assuming 3 wires, brake, cargo and ground.

Both third gen Tundra and 4th gen Tacoma have the same problem of taillights with combined brake and turn. Hence the desire for a symmetric solution. It’s remotely possible that the same connector is used for both as well but fairly unlikely.

connector is assumed to be female, where the light plugs into the harness. So removing the brake light itself would also work but you want to be very careful with that to ensure it’s fully waterproof when you reinstall everything. Access from the inside might be more challenging, sometimes it’s a small hole where the harness feeds and that blocks access to unplug without removing the lamp itself. All of this intel is worthwhile to have as it dictates complexity of install. The harder it is to mess with the cab third brake light, the more we might focus on tapping both taillights and using a module to de-multiplex brake off the combined.

Okay I understand what you're saying now. I've been working from the outside on the fixture itself and as there's no hardware securing it visible from the outside, I'm afraid it may be attached from the inside. I'm not confident I can remove it without breaking it. So I'll see what I can do from the inside.

Ok, so there are absolutely no numbers, letters or other markings on either plug. The male (fixture side) is black, white, red. The female side, (wire harness side) is colored blue, white, white w/ black stripe. So when plugged in black goes to blue, white to white and red to white w/ black stripe.
I'll go inside and pour a bourbon for myself before I start putting everything back together, just in case you want some other information or pics.
    Hope this helps.

Woah, killer research. How hard to get to that guy? Wanna try out a prototype? Those are 090IIU 3 way connectors, I think I have them, I think they are the same ones my 2002 Tundra uses which is crazy.

I'll happily install one for you, and be happy to pay for it. It really wasn't that difficult to get to, just being careful not to crease the headliner was key. I'd even take step by step pics for you if interested.
There were only a couple Christmas tree push clips so everything seemed to be quick release, for the most part.
