I can make one that taps the Parking light, no problem.

    PM incoming

I know I've already talked to you, but figured I would answer this here for others to see. I don't know of a way to run bed lights unfortunately. It may be super simple, but I don't have a Tundra, so it makes it hard to test.

This is perfect for that. No need to tap any wires, which means 5 years down the road, there won't be a need to track down where the corrosion combined with the tap caused a failure

    PM incoming

    PM incoming too

That is always a good idea. Feel free to PM me as well. I am not as active here, but I do have email notifications set up. Now that I realized the issue, I should actually get those again.

I'm interested, but I'm also looking for just 12v +/- as well, to add either a power point or lights to the bed.

2nd gens don't have plug-in lamp sockets for the tails, they are hardwired. Can you make one that would connect where the taillight harness plugs into the main harness just below the taillight?

    Edit:

Did a little research, confirmed that the 2nd gen junction below the driver's tail light uses 90980-10987 and 90980-10988 connectors. I noticed you use what looks like these same connectors on your Tacoma harness, but visually, the pinout looks different.

    2nd Gen Tundra Looks like:
    Pin 1 - Brake
    Pin 2 - Reverse
    Pin 3 - unused
    Pin 4 - Tail
    Pin 5 - Left Turn
    Pin 6 - Ground

I confirmed brake and ground with my multimeter on my truck.

Let me know if you have any interest in making one for a 2nd gen.

    Thanks

PM incoming as well. I have a few options for adding bed lights. There isn't anything back there that I can cleanly tap (that i am aware of at least...) for a constant 12v. But, if you're cool drilling a small hole (5/8"-3/4"ish), I can make up a deutsch flanged connector and a wire that you can use for ground and another long enough for you to run to the front of the truck. See here:
Plug and Play Brake Light taps | Page 26 | Tacoma World specifically, the 3rd picture.
That is a 6 port connector, but they make a 3 that is triangular and smaller. I would terminate everything and make the brake tap long enough to go to that flanged connector. You would have to ground the wire (easier of Tundras with that actual metal bed I am sure) and run a wire up to the battery and fuse it. If you need more than brake, ground, and constant +, well, they go from 3 to 4,6,8, and even 12. They also have dust caps available so if you ever disconnect the topper, you can cover the plug in the bed.
You already have one! ... man, I need to keep up on my own thread better :anonymous:
I can make one. I think I can match the colors too, but I am not positive on that. Not that electricity cares, but I like to do it when I can. If you can tell me the colors of the OEM wire, I'll hook you up for $20 (as opposed to the $35 I usually charge for it [more expensive connectors, and more wires to make if anyone ever wonders]) if you could get me the colors on that and maybe a couple of good pictures?

I can get you a comprehensive look at that junction.

    :spending:

I would love a 4 pin if I could find a good mounting spot. I have 14awg from my battery +/- and I'd need the brake leads +/- as well. I know - is -, but I like not having to tee splice.

    They make a 4 pin, so that’s doable :)

This connector is just below the driver's side tail light. It's 40" loose from here to the top corner of the bed.
    20210816_092615.jpg

The wires change color at this connector. Left is the truck side, right is the lamp side.

Here is a closeup of the lamp-side connector.

    20210816_092727.jpg

    Pin 1 - Brake - green w/red
    Pin 2 - Reverse - red w/blue
    Pin 3 - unused
    Pin 4 - Tail - green
    Pin 5 - Left Turn - green w/ yellow
    Pin 6 - Ground - black

I'm undecided on the surface mount connector. I don't have much in the way of mounting spots.

What’s going on here? Maybe that hole could just be enlarged?

Does the color mapping give you what you need?

That hole is on the side of the stake pocket. I suppose it could work as there is a matching hole on the inner wall of the stake pocket. I was also considering turning it 90° and mounting it on this angled surface:

The color mapping is perfect. I don’t have that many variations of green, but I can still make you something :)

I will get you a measurement on the flange too.
