What do I do? As little as possible! But when I do have to work, I solve technical problems and design system solutions.

Thanks for explaining that. I wish toyota made this easier on us. Not sure if you came across that Phoenix android audio unit but if you did, do you know how they seem to maintain functionality with the factory JBL amp? I always thought we could switch out to an aftermarket headunit but keep the factory amp. Guess not?

This is probably a dumb question but JBL units are pretty “badged” up, right?
My manual lists “entune, JBL, etc” all as options.

I know I’ve got entune, but I don’t think I have JBL because of the lack of emblems indicating such.

Having said that, if non-JBL, my understanding is that a swap of the “stock” amp under the passenger seat is possible and fairly PNP? Thinking about upgrading it & speakers. My Music just sounds so thin to me.

I’m not looking to have a “bass off” competition in a Wendy's parking lot so I won’t be going the subs route.

If you have a JBL system, the Head Unit should have a JBL badge above the CD slot. Also, a non JBL amp (under passenger seat) will have two connectors. I believe the JBL amp has three connectors.

Not sure where to post this info, so this thread seems as good as any. Did you know that the Entune HU is manufactured by multiple companies? The table below indicates how to tell who made yours. There's a little number printed on the lower right corner of your HU faceplate. Mine was made by Panasonic.

Yes. I did exactly that. Same thread shows what I did, and how it was done.

Been reading about the Kicker KEY180.4 amp with integrated DSP wich allegedly is an upgrade from an LOC. It's a small amp with 45 Watts RMS per each of 4 channels. This should eliminate a lot of wiring and costs. Anyone with info please feel free to chime in.
