I used the general term "I do HVAC" when asked what I do. But the longer answer is I mainly work in restaurants specializing in commercial cooking equipment and refrigeration, along with HVAC. I had to pull out a drawer cooler with a grill sitting on it this morning to get to the compressor compartment that in the back. In the pics you see the panel that I needed to access. Not a lot of fun. If any one claims to be real picky about food and eats out anywhere I just laugh to my self. This is not unusual in my 30 year experience on any equipment hard to pull out. Please share pic of the shitty part of the job.

I’ve seen this in many restaurants that use deep fryers. I worked for a contractor that did maintenance for a guy that owned multiple el pollo loco‘s, sizzlers and Carl’s Jr. franchises. We would go in at night and many times have to pull these back to get to plumping, do maintenance or install new ice machine, coolers, fridges, soda machines, deep fryer etc. One of the nastier jobs I’ve done in my life.

Sorry, no pics, just description, for me working the railroad with OTC (On Track Equipment) when hydraulic lines bust, sprays all over machine, then you can't see where it's coming from from, so you have to have another set of eyes see when you turn hydraulics on, then get In that area to change the hose, so you get wet with hydraulic, some parts are so gunked up with grease work clothes, arms covered up with old grease, yeah I like it

I did a lot of that in the past, but no more.
The worst work environment these days are small dank well houses, filled with all sorts of nasty critters large & small. I'll return to this well house in a week or so to swap out an old filter for a new one, this large spider watched me work last time.

That's an intense job. I bet you have some stories. I've been veterinarian for 19 years. Most people probably don't want to see what I've seen. But, with the bad comes a whole lot of good.:)

    Lol, they
check dish machine temps, food temps, door gaskets, and make sure food things are labeled correctly. If a health inspector was more like a technician and moved things places would close left and right. If they carried a screw driver and removed the front cover of an ice machine no gas station soda machine would be in use.

No pics but two things stand out from early in my welding career. First was when I had just entered the trade. The company I worked for then got the refurbishment contract for the local wastewater treatment plant. Working on scaffolding right above the sewage water and the humidity in the building was nasty. I'd drive home after work with all the windows open, have a 30 min shower and I could still smell it.

Second was just a lousy part of being a welder in the field. Air-arc gouging pile caps off while lying underneath a compressor building on a remote site in the pouring rain. Of course, drainage on the site sucked and the water would run under and pool underneath the buildings. Cold, wet, and muddy for a week straight...

Few years ago stores started putting the ice machine on top of the soda machine so employees did not have to fill ice bin on top any more. Now it is out of sight and out of mind. What 80% on ice machines look like inside.

Damn, it’s stuff like this that makes me reluctant to get back on the field. Every summer I get the itch to run calls again.

That used to be my job when I did low voltage work. Lots of tight, hot attic spaces. I think the worst part was all the roofing nails sticking me in the back and head.
I got my pants stuck one time doing a security job. I was splayed out squeezing under one roof line trying not to fall thru the drywall and my pants hooked bad on a gusset plate. I had to kick my shoes off, brace myself, reach down and undo my belt and crawl out of my pants. I walked over in my boxers and got my wire, then went back and unhooked my pants. That was a super itchy day.
