I just got a Nikon D3400 and a bunch of accessories for Christmas. I'm not a photographer and know nothing about photography but I want to learn. Some of the pics in this thread are amazing!

I'm going to come to @bandit for advice now.. jeez.

Here's a few of my poopy photos. Until now I've never had a decent camera, so these are all cell phone pics.

I usually end up in some pretty interesting locations....this was worth the climb up the gas flare tower at Edvard Grieg platform offshore Norway a few years ago, oh and and an ultra wide angle lens.
A nice end to a difficult job, I positioned the Rowan Viking (the blue rig) alongside the brand new platform.....zero tolerance and feeler gauge stuff.....aaaahhhhhh

    That 3rd pic is epic!

Please explain how you got that picture of the cheetah, I assume? This is either a freaking awesome story or some safari thing. Or?

Haha, after I graduated I took a year off and spent it in South Africa, Namibia, Angola, and Botswana - While on my travels I spent a few days at a cheetah conservatory, helping them do day to day operations. This is inside one of the enclosures with a pretty female cheetah named Samantha. She's one of the only captive bred cheetahs there.

That's probably and led whip. Used at night to make sure other people see you. It's either that or a picture of an alien. Whichever is more believable to you.

Thanks! The first night shot is just my cargo lights. I put LED reverse lights in them and there bright as hell.
Second night shot is out in Glamis sand dunes. so yes I had my LED whip on n thought it would make a cool picture.
I like the alien idea though.
