Phoenix Gold 6.5 inch component front speakers

Anyone have any feedback with the Phoenix Gold component speakers?

back in the day I think they were tits. I didn't know they were still alive.

I had a Phoenix gold sub and component setup in my fj. It was really good

 

Which model components?
They did and might still have a budget line is why I ask. The budget line did get decent reviews but sounded like there were better options.

Also, depending on your head unit you might want to consider going for an active setup. The passive crossover network that comes with a component speaker set is almost half of the over all cost of the set. Decent passive crossovers are not cheap at all.

For example, my front stage is ran active by means of my head unit,
Pioneer mvh 580bs $100.
2 silver flute 6.5 woofers(80-150 watts each), roughly $80 a set.
2 peerless (vifa) xt25 silk dome tweeters(50 watts each) about $60 a set.

Amped or not, they sound really good.

Very comparable to a $200-300 set of components of respectable brands.

Just some food for though.
