Actually, faxing is the ONLY approved method for transmitting sensitive medical data or legal documents (unless you waive that right signing up for some medical webpage site). When I was temporarily disabled, work comp would ONLY take faxes of my paycheck stub and nothing else. Such a PIA. Who has a landline today?

This is the most retarded thing. “Secure transmission” over something that can be easily tapped and replayed (have done it with basic tools), not to mention anyone in the office can just walk by and grab the paper. I worked for a school district that insisted on fax vs scan and email as an encrypted attachment. And don’t get me started on how flaky faxing is over a copper-to-fiber line.

I dabble in fountains, inks and dip pens. Practice my handwriting, doodle zentagles, write out our weekly meal menu (so the kids don't ask questions every day).

Our oldest (18), is into Mechanical Pencils and writes out a lot of things as well. He probably has 15 now, ranging from $15 to $100 each. Rotates which one he used in class each day. We ordered a bunch of high quality leads from Amazon Japan.

That said, I'm 50 amd enjoy turntables, chopping wood by hand, canoe over motor boat and use a puck of soap/brush and traditional razor to shave.

My signature is all but unreadable, which was handy when it came to signing Federal stuff when doing my visa/citizenship. Bizarrely enough, those of us with stylized signatures are considered acceptable for signing stuff, but if your signature happens to be remotely legible and doesn't include your full name then they'll ask you to resign with your full name. Which begs the question that if you are asked to sign something with anything that isn't your usual mark how on earth can it have any legal relevance?

    Too many, but not enough....
Damn government agencies still require checks sometimes, as do some small businesses. Plus I give checks as presents instead of cash to some kids. Checks are great because it's still legal tender and they are so rare nowadays that I've had more than a few instances of businesses straight up forgetting to cash them and they go void.

Sometimes I have problems reading my own gobbledygoop chicken scratch. Luckily, for me I have a patient wife; she can translate for me while I drag my knuckles around.

    Do I win a prize?

I'd gladly take some Mcvities Digestives or chocolate hobnobs.

Prolly a gift certificate to the 99p store... for 50p… Now, about them Hobnobs. Are you suppose to eat them with tea? Or fizzy drink? Or are both of those uncouth? I never figured it out so I just eat them with everything.

They don't dunk very well, you end up choking on renegade bits of oat that end up in the bottom of your cup. Best consumed solo, that way you don't have to share.

Back in the day, my sixth grade teacher (year 1969) taught us all how to write with our arm in cursive, that means your wrist stays completely solid and your whole arm is being used, in the beginning it looked like chicken scratch but by the end of the year it looked pretty decent, I’ll have to admit that was probably the last time I ever wrote cursive with my
    arm

Pushing everything to digital makes it to easy for the guberment to see everything you purchase, and that makes it easy for whoever is in power to tax their opposition with precision. Especially in nations that are pushing into the carbon tax crap. I'll stick to my cash and checks where I can.

But checks are still digitized and OCR'd by the bank... sooo... not really any different, other than a delay in delivery.

Except a check to (insert business here) doesn't have an itemized list. So I spent $200 at (insert business here) but what I bought is not disclosed. Say it's at Sportsman's warehouse. Was it a gun, or just some athletic gear? Was it ammo, or maybe some golf clubs? The CC shows everything.

Relax. What's old is new. Kids are wearing flannel and splitting wood for exercise these days. Internationally, calligraphy and shodo and other handwriting scripts are celebrated art forms. Frankly if you can't read cursive even without being taught to write it yourself, it was poorly written anyway - I work with enough doctors to know some horrible penmanship in my day, this ain't a new thing.

I might not land too firmly land in the "Elder Millennial" category, but complaining about the decline of useless handwriting script is just about the damnest Boomer thing I ever did see.

If your CC is getting an itemized list of purchases and not just an authorized amount... get a different credit card. I've never seen any type of itemization on any of my purchases, at least as far as my financial institutions are concerned. The store still has the check number and all your other metadata to tie back to your purchase, so it's really a moot point if you're that paranoid.

I don't know that we are quite to the point that other nations are yet. I surely wouldn't want everything digital in the UK or Canada, though. Some stellar tyranny being pushed in some places.
