2021 SR5. Previously had the PCS command emergency braking on the highway. A car was pulling off right, lots of miss distance but the PCS determined a collision was imminent and applied brakes hard. If this had been icy or wet roads, or someone was tailgating…

Lesson learned I leave extra space when passing.

Today driving around a left circular drive at 25 mph with parked cars on the right, I got a PCS alert. Again lots of miss distance.

Has anyone else experienced the PCS activating in situations that aren’t even close to collision?

Yep. Nissan Frontier pulled out from the right, turned left and I applied brakes to make sure if he didn't clear my lane I wouldn't hit him. As soon as he cleared my lane I let off the brake and just as I was about to accelerate the brakes applied again. This just thoroughly pissed off the guy behind me that was already too close. Scored me a good two second horn blast and a shaking middle finger. Straight road too.

Yup, the false alarms tend to happen quite often even when you’re at a far distance from any collision.

Yes mine goes off more often than I like it too. Scares the shit out of the kids every time. I miss the days of no traction control, ABS and other safety BS especially for off-road driving.

After reading the manual again realized there's a distance setting you can adjust much like with the dynamic cruise system. Suspect it defaults to the most distant so I'll set it to the closest response.

Really wish they'd provide the actual logic behind these, which is what I'd expect with an aircraft system.

    Thanks!

I've adjusted my distance setting for the PCS and for Adaptive Cruise. I haven't had any issues with it. At least for dealing with the long distance issues.

When I first got my truck I had it activate a couple of times where I though I had enough clearance but the truck disagreed. Since then I've just kinda re-calibrated my eyeball to accept what the truck will tolerate. Guess It's not a bad thing if it makes me not follow so closely.
