I bought a 8-month old truck when all was said and done, but I remember my dealership being 99% ether TRD Off Road on the 2 wheel drives or TRD off road 4x4 except the bare bones 4.6 SR work trucks. I remember TRD Off Road package being very low price so why wait for one to be built?

I just wanted the trd off road sticker on the besides. Couldn't trust myself to put it on straight and look stock so I just bought the trd package.

I knew it was almost nothing extra, I bet every dealer wants it on all models it is available on.

Because they can and want to?

People have hobbies, interests, and personal tastes. I think you're trying to discern something that's just not there.

    It's $70 for a Limited, but for an SR5 it's $1,000

I mean, you can't change the VIN of your vehicle. Go ahead and do the research, the TRD models will go for more on the secondary market. It doesn't matter if you changed everything out or not.

No, there is most definitely something there. I see builds every day that start out as an SR5 with anywhere from $2-6k in added on packages (which includes: wheels, tires, lighting, suspension, Off-road decals, mirror caps, bumper, Entune and a few more things) and literally change every single thing that was included in the package out as soon as they buy the truck. I've seen people pay the extra money for Entune (which is only included in packages $4,500 and above) and do an IPad dash kit withing 2 months of buying the truck. I was asking the question because I wanted to know peoples' actual reasoning behind doing it, i.e certain colors that you have to get certain packages for and bucket seats instead of a bench seat. I wanted to know what specific features drew people to the higher trim packages even though they still change things out. Not everyone that makes a thread asking a simple question is whining and compaining because people are doing it. I'm genuinely curious as to why people choose to do it. If you don't know people do it, and you want to comment saying because they can, then don't worry about making a comment.

Yeah, that's the Limited though. My question is more for people that buy SR5's and put packages that increase the price anywhere from $1-6k to make it look like a higher trim level and then change everything out.

I bought the truck I wanted.
Now in a few months I may want to change a few things because I didn't know I wanted them

Get to this site and discover all the damn money I can spend and then do it.

Hell, I just updated the sound system in mine today (They are installing it as we speak)

Next week I may do something else like spray liner or something

See, that makes sense to me. I understand not waiting for one, especially if ones with higher packages are marked down. Thank you.

ROCKET SCIENCE. I don't understand why some people are getting butthurt

Spray in liner isn't really a huge deal, but did you pay for the Entune? If not then you're just upgrading a base feature anyways

Then why not start with a truly stock truck and build it the way you want?

    I did.
SR5 TRD package and then went to work on it knowing i was going to personalize my own truck. To make it not like every other truck on the lot.
The rebates were too good from my dealership on the truck i bought to pass up , so i bought the truck i wanted and added the parts i wanted to make it mine.

Thanks for actually giving a reason and not just saying because you wnated to  I know sometimes dealers have killer sales, so that's understandable.

For me I bought an SR5 TRD package because it was only one of two Tundras on the lot. The other one was a crew max. And to be honest I never planned on doing much to my truck, and I liked the way it looked right off the lot. Of course things change and you start getting ideas. What was once satisfying to your eye has now become what could I do differently.

Ahh the day we fell in love..

2019 Trd Offroad Limited has everything you'd want besides proper suspension. That's what a lot of people do. Had an SR5 Off-road, but the interior was terrible compared to the luxuries of the limited.

TRD gets center console shift. Granted I bought an 8 year old truck but I was not going to buy anything with a column shift when I have the option for center console. This is probably one of the more common reasons
