Passenger side rear wheel sticks out much further than driver's side

I stand corrected. I meant to say that I am 100% positive that Toyota would not let a defect like this go unaddressed!!! Sorry...watching the college football games and not concentrating on my typing. :)

My only guess is that it might have something to do with something like torque compensation since the primary turning wheel is the passenger side(?)
    I may be completely wrong

Perhaps. But either way it sucks for us ocd people. Literally an inch, maybe 1.5” further out

I’ve been looking to see if anyone else has noticed this. I didn’t notice it till I got new wheels and tires with a +18 offset. I stared looking at every new tundra and they all do it. The ones with stock wheels and tires are harder to see because everything is tucked in

You would like to think that, but things slip through the cracks all the time. The rusted frames and the cam tower oil leak are 2 that come to mind

Victor- get back into your broken down dodge and push yourself away from these threads. Tow truck will be along any minute, depending on weather and traffic.

If it happened to one or two of their vehicles, then I could understand things slipping under the cracks. But, if there are several vehicles affected by that, I would be very surprised to know that they would not acknowledge and respond to the problem. Toyota is just not known for that type of thing.

Vagaries of mass production...got keep the bed aligned with the cab, got to keep the driveline pretty straight, etc. See here, this guy's driver side wheel is sticking out. :D

What the hell are you talking about? I have an 18 tundra. And every tundra I looked at,at the dealership today had the same offset to the passenger side. The service manager was aware of it but didn’t know why. He said he would ask around. Not holding my breath though.

It is definitely effecting many vehicles. Every new tundra I’ve looked at has the same issue. My buddy’s 16’ tundra also has it. Apparently it’s not an issue with tires wearing prematurely or anything else. I would just like to know why

i don’t think that absolute symmetry is to be expected in a mass produced vehicle.

Maybe they need to adjust a jig or reprogram the robot that positions the bed.

You can make it perfect; just grab your wrenches, a flashlight, and start loosening bolts and jerking the bed around.

I’m measuring from the frame rail, not the bed. My bed is perfectly lined up with the cab. I would expect to be dog walking with this, but Toyota magic, my alignments perfect..:notsure:

I have searched the NHTSA website to see if that particular problem has been reported or documented there, but, wasn’t able to find anything relating to it. I know that there is a process to which one must follow to get a problem with a vehicle addressed by the manufacturer. It’s even more pressing if multiple owners of the same vehicle model have the same problems.

I’m eager to see the outcome. I attached the link below for anyone else to try to find info on this problem, etc.

Mine is the same way. I have even gone as far as sending it to the body shop to do cross measurements of the frame. To my despair the frame is straight. No way to adjust bed as it sits perfectly aligned with the cab and rear bumper. This drives me crazy. I guess I need to start parking to where all I see is either the front or left side of my truck.

It could be worse. I was behind a brand new F-150 the other day and it wasn't tracking straight. Nothing like seeing his driver side front tire while watching his rear end track to the right.

And see all the complaints on here about bed bounce. Follow a F150 if you want to see bed bounce.

I had this issue on my 2016 & my 2018. Both bought brand new. It’s factory. When I brought it up to the dealer we went out to the lot and they were all the same. You don’t notice it as much with factory rims but as soon as you put a wider rim and tire on it really stands out. I wound up doing a small wheel spacer on the driver side. One big flaw with this generation.

Seems like the only way to fix it. Both my passenger sides stick out more. I want to put 1.50” on the driver side and keep 1.25” on the passenger. Would this mess up how it drives?

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
How much does it stick out compared to the other side? Everything's a little off on all "mass-produced" vehicles.

In the rear, at least .5” or more. Visually I love the look on the passenger side. Driver side looks totally different.

Put skinnier tires on passenger side. Oh wait then you will have something else to bother you.
