Make sure the gearing on the new differential matches the one you're replacing, or you'll have to regear the front differential to match the new rear one.

What part of the rear end is blown? i.e. what specific symptoms are you seeing? Maybe you don't need the entire housing with axles, diff?

www.car-part.com will help you find used parts, since new will cost you a pretty penny. But if you really want new, here's how to look up the parts yourself: https://www.tundras.com/threads/howto-use-the-toyota-parts-system-to-find-order-parts.113808/

With 4WD what gear ratio is inside the donor vehicle is important, I don't know what's inside your V6/4WD (I assume it has sticks on the floor?), but it's an important thing to consider. Rear diff gearing needs to match the ratio of your front diff gearing.

Probably cheaper to get a junkyard rear end than a new ring & pinion.

So do the early (2000-2003) ABS and non-ABS trucks use the same speedo sensor? I know the later 2004-2006 trucks get their speedo readings from the rear ABS sensors. This only might make a difference if the OP uses the whole axle assembly (and not just the 3rd member).

Seems like it’s not too uncommon for our 8.4 3rd members to grenade. Before i bought my 2000 tundra from my BIL, the spiders in his 3rd melted down. I got lucky and found him a complete 8.4 rear end (that already had fresh brakes installed). I swapped the axle back under his truck and sold the blown axle to a random guy in craigslist.
