Other sites are listing those parts 25-30% cheaper. Can source Toyota-made parts for as low as $360-380. Taxes, shipping, a cooler, hardware and fabrication needs will run another ~$100-150 or so.

Yep, I just priced out all the toyota parts on Ebay for less than $350 including shipping. Just add in a cooler, misc hardware and some scrap to fab a bracket, and I'm in probably less than half price.

Interesting, Sparks Toyota sells them on ebay cheaper than on their own web site...

This is for 4.6 engine. 5.7 needs 32907-0C040. I think.

I have the “genuine” kit, but if interested in saving coin, why not run some quality hose instead of the hard tubes?

32907-0C020 is the part number listed under the partial kit from Genuine Cooling Systems.

32907-0C040 is listed for 4.6 on the parts sites.

So I'm in just under $330 with shipping and taxes for all the OEM parts via Ebay. I'm researching cooler options now, so what cooler has anyone else that's DIY'ed it went with?

I'm at the same stage. I bought the hardlines and thermostat off ebay. The two small rubber hoses and 6 qts of trans fluid from spark parts.

Shopping coolers now. Was going to take off my grill this evening to measure.

Anyone used the OEM style spring hose clamps? Which size did you use?

I sourced out all the parts. I believe I spent $5-600 for everything, might have been a little cheaper since it's been about a year now I think.

I put a $400 order on Toyota parts (with bolts and clips), it is not shipped yet. For the cooler I'm planning to get Hayden 779. Maybe add an electric fan later, but I'm not sure here. Hate offroading in summer in black flies infested forests of Maine ;)

I have a Hayden, can remember they model but I decided to do the Setrad since it looked more factory. I source everything out from different places.

I was shopping coolers yesterday trying decide which route to go.

I ended up picking up one for a Chevy HD truck (Derale 13633). Instead of offsetting a cooler to one side, my plan is to see this will fit widthwise, similar to how the OEM cooler was, except it will be in front of the a/c condenser so the mechanical fan will pull air through. Almost 23" wide (so about as wide as the a/c condenser) and the core is almost 8" tall. Too large? Not sure, it'll be here this week and i'll mock it up to see.

Other option would be to mount it vertically on one side too.

While you have it apart, add a 1/4" grid hardware cloth screen between the grill and your cooler/condenser/radiator. That will help prevent bugs and stones from blocking airflow and bending the fins.

No. Mesh rips the flow and creates a tremendous resistance, resulting in a reduced air flow through the fins. I can't tell how many already hot turbo engines died because of bug/debris mesh in grill. Tundra is less hot of course, but why making good truck life's harder for no good reason?

Sorry, been using hardware cloth on all my vehicles for over 25 years, never had a heat related problem and I never suffered from poor a/c performance due to a clogged condenser either. Nothing but good results. Now window screen would likely be bad, but nothing wrong with hardware cloth.

I've got a burnt exhaust valve on my other vehicle and other general signs of overheated engine compartment, so I'm a bit paranoid about stressing Tundra. Especially when I see the coolant and ATF temperatures way above what I used to see in the other vehicle.

Cooling is definitely more critical than many realize. Luckily we have guages to help monitor a bit. Maybe you have a clogged up condenser and or radiator because it wasn't screened in that vehicle. Could be a fan belt slipping, fan clutch, water jacket clogged, bad heater core, bad thermostat, bad water pump, bad electric fan or circuitry, etc. Wish you much luck getting it fixed!

Fixed it long ago. I'm a car nerd, at least used to be when the life was less busy, so everything was stage 0, including new OE radiator, flushed intercooler, new turbo, water pump, cold thermostat, engine fan turning on early, etc. It is just a bit too hot engine for the application. N/A variants of the same engine family have no problems with overheating anything under the hood.

Received this cooler. It's massive. Might have time later this weekend to mock it up for fitment.

Hey everyone, Genuine Cooling Systems here! We fully understand the DIY route and the reasons why this thread exists. It was a tough decision to raise prices of our kits but it was a necessary evil as everything around us goes up in prices. As a business, unfortunately, we have overhead costs besides just the parts themselves. Insurance, rent, storage, website, payroll, and keeping large amounts of expensive inventory in stock, etc. Also, its a lot easier to buy 1 or 2 of a part vs trying to buy 50 of a part from Toyota.

Keep in mind if you do go with our kit you do get a complete kit ready to go out of the box with every bolt, washer, and part you need. Our custom bracket is a perfect bolt on fit that will give you a factory installed look. Our detailed instructions guide you every step of the way. It truly is a premium kit that is very well thought out to provide you, the Customer, the best and fastest possible installation experience.

That said, we still respect what you guys are doing here. We understand there are many of you that enjoy the full DIY experience and enjoy the pride of piecing it together and installing it. I am a DIY'er myself.

As a customer of yours, I wouldn’t have ever done this upgrade had I needed to pull all the part’s together myself. Your kit was high quality, well packaged and thought out.

I’m a DIYer, but more because I want things done right and have been burned by shops and dealerships, not necessarily to save money. I didn’t want the hassle of collecting all the parts. Anyway, I’m glad I found out about you guys and understand the cost of business.

Completely agree. Having the entire kit in hand with instructions really cuts down on time, hunting around, etc.

The purpose of this thread is to, in the end, give definitive list of items needed should someone want to go about it themselves. The largest obstacle in the whole endeavor is mounting the cooler. I spent over half of my install time just working on that part. The rest is relatively easy. You have solved that part with your kit.

Just a little teaser from yesterday's install. Yes, it's huge. Also mounts up using all OEM holes. Only about 20 miles on it so far, but no issues to report so far.
