Matt, you beat me to it on the AC trim rings. I did try one this past weekend and holy shit it was difficult to line them up. Any tips?

I think the easiest way to do it is to pull the controls out of the truck. But it’s easier for me because I don’t have a console. They are so small that it’s so hard to get on there perfect. Is that doable? Keep me in the loop? I can always send more.

Do the knobs just pull out without any additional dismantling?

No, to get there you have to remove the entire panel that the knobs are assembled to and apply it at a table, will make it much easier. If you wanted to actually remove the rings from the assembly you would need to take the panel out, remove the circuit board and there are clips holding the rings into the face of it. If that makes sense?

They look good but they don’t act as a wrap, just a cover. You can see chrome around and on the inside of them. Mine are meant to eliminate the chrome completely.

If you need to remove the AC rings to decal might as well just paint them that’s what I did. Not hard at all. Looks hard but it’s not.

Did you need to do any prep work for the surface? What did you use for paint. The color looks great. Any clear coats?

Wiped it down with MEK. Used the plastic paint several coats and 2 coats of clear coat.

The AC control chrome rings are what we are talking about as far as removal to apply the vinyl.
There is no need to remove the "vent rings" to apply the vinyl and it is a super easy process.
By far the best option over taking your dash apart to repaint or replace with black parts.

Indeed, as @PATTEN said..... no need to remove for the vent rings. The AC control rings are much easier to remove than the vents as well. This is what we're referring to... The vents are simple. The controls are a much smaller piece thats more awkward to get to.

It would be awesome if someone (not me) made a video or detailed write up about how to apply these rings (both the vent and climate control). That would be extremely helpful (for dummies like me) to ensure proper installation. I don't think the video/ write up needs to include how to remove the climate controls, just the application of the vinyl/ decals.

Yes, I found that the middle two AC vents take a little more finagling to get the vinyl placed on them due to them being indented a bit into the dash. The sticky backed paper surrounding the vinyl wants to cling to the raised surface around the rings which can stretch them a bit. The AC vents on either end were much easier, IMHO, because the rings are raised a little allowing better access. I found out why @DecalsByDesign gives you two extra decals with your order, thankfully! I wonder if the rings couldn't be made out of vinyl that you can apply wet for easier placement?

Applying these would be my first time messing with vinyl. My OCD would drive me nuts. I need to see these being done before I try it myself. The extra rings being included help calm my nerves about it.

Shame on you. Wet installs are a messy thing of the past. I think that if I cut the tape around the outside of the vinyl, you wouldn’t have that problem.
I will do my best to make a tutorial in the near future. I’m slowing down but still going morning til night.

LOL! Yep, shame on me! After messing up one of the vinyl rings on a center vent, I cut the excess tape around the vinyl rings except for one corner that I could use to peel the tape off the decal. Worked better but I guess I don't have the hands of a surgeon LOL! Either that or I just need to lay off the coffee prior to doing things like this. I wasn't trying to bust your chops or anything. The end result of the vinyl is proportional to the skill and patience of the person doing the applying. The older I get, I find the less of each that I have.:D:D

    @NewImprovedRon

Patience is key. I drink coffee all day long, it’s bad. Don’t worry about touching the adhesive, it’s won’t stick to you too bad.

It’s actually very easy to do. You can line the vent
Yes it is! I will add that if you have good light it is easier to line the vinyl up with the ring. Once this is done apply pressure to the flat portion of the ring only then peel backing off. Then slowly press the vinyl to the inside of the vent ring while you rotate the vent. For the outside portion, I found that the backing material folded up works well for pushing the outside of the vinyl into the small crack around the outside of the ring.
