If you are using fender flares then you probably understand that it is probably rubbing through the paint.

After 2 years of having my 2016 Limited CM, I decided to trade in the truck. I was pissed when I saw that the after removal the fender flares had created a distinct rub line in the paint.

I wouldnt have been as mad if Bushwacker hadn't claimed "No Rub"

The line was so bad it could not be blended without serious wet sanding by a professional.

Anyone that watches Gear Runner can see what they do to the paint after just 6 months.

I enjoy the look of them but refused to reinstall them on the new TRD PRO till i found a solution.

I looked into 3M Paint Protection but that is around $400 as the amount of 3M used is rather large for 4 fenders.

The guy at the 3M/XPEL Paint Pro offered up to use between 1/2in and 1in clear Door edge guard.

I also found this which is similar to the idea above...

I will be trying it out here within next week or 2 and will take some pics of the install.

My bushwackers have a new rubber edge. I never plan on removal. They look too bad ass to even think about removal. Good luck. DE251CBB6-9C75-4EBD-A2AE-7305BD32BB49.jpg

I never thought I would pull them off either until I liked them so much I wanted to keep them and put them on my new truck. When the dealership was not going to add money to my trade for leaving them on I quickly pulled them off.

This is more for those that want a way to protect the truck regardless if they pull them off or not.

Mine also had a rubber edging but that edge is what vibrates against the paint and wears into the paint

    What size is that?

My guy that put the XPEL on my truck gave me some of the same that he suggested I try.

He gave me 1/2 inch and suggested double it top and bottom for 1 inch of coverage. We will see how it works.

Post pics if you get to it before I do and any tips.. Ill do the same

It is 3/4. Im going to put the flares on and mark where they sit, then remove flares and install the Xpel. I had the flares on my black Tundra for maybe 6 months and they were already rubbing pretty bad. Im not making the same mistakes with the new truck.
