I decided to go with the P3. Ordered the harness I found, but it is the wrong one. Apparently they haven’t made one for 2018 yet, according to another post on here. Apparently the 2018 plug changed for the factory brake controller. I’m going to call and ask them if they anticipate a date one will be ready yet.

is P3 plug and play with the harness/adapter ? or is there a lot of work involved after buying the adapter and the P3?

In theory it should plug in and install in just minutes. However, as of 2 weeks ago, Tekonsha did not have the harness for the 2018. Hopefully they will have one soon as I’d like to have a clean install. I really don’t want to splice wires.

So what was wrong with the factory controller? I have yet to use mine so I'm just curious.

You should be good to go for 2016. For some reason, the 2018 connector in the tundra changed for the factory brake controller changed so the 2017 and earlier connector /harness changed. The only it would work is to hardwire by splicing wires which I wasn’t interested in.
