P0453

Truck is throwing code P0453 evaporative emissions control system pressure sensor. Doesn't seem to be affecting anything other then the cel being on. Is this even needed or a way to bypass it? Also couldn't locate part to order a new one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

You haven't really diagnosed the problem. Your car sees high pressure in the evap system, that's it.

A high level scan tool can be used to run through the functions of the evap system to see what is or isn't working to properly diagnose what actually needs to be done. A scan tool can be used to dramatically change the pressure inside the fuel tank to the point where the truck will run roughly, and a technician can do that while looking at the live data for the pressure sensor to see if the pressure sensor is reading the attempted change in pressure, or another possibility is that the attempt to dramatically change the fuel tank pressure will result in no rough running and no change in pressure, in which case you'd want to see if the charcoal canister vent valve is actuating properly.

You could probably run the truck like this indefinitely without addressing it provided your area doesn't have very stringent inspection requirements.

Did you ever get this problem fixed? My 2019 just started throwing this code and CEL comes on. I have been unplugging the negative terminal to reset the code. Truck drives fine otherwise.

 

It was my old 2011 that was having the issue. But no I never did get that light to turn off despite replacing the entire evap container, inspecting every wire (that I could see) and a few other tests. But it never hurt Drive ability.
