Currently running OV base tune. I'm not completely sure but I think my gas mileage dropped.
Was getting 10-12 in town prior. Now only 8-10. Is unhooking the battery necessary? Will
    the next iteration help?

I realize there's many other variables , only curious here. Thank you.

Max, I guess you sent logs in right? That base tune is probably why your mileage isn't good.

All these things and more. What comes to my mind is that when you flash or disconnect the battery, that will reset the Fuel Trims. Initially the ECU dumps a "safe" amount of fuel in, and then based on what it sees from the O2 sensors it will add or "trim" that amount to get to what's been programmed, usually that "magical" stoichiometric ratio. This will take drive time to optimise.

Mine has tanked as well with the "oxygenated" gasoline and little bits of warm up time with the cold temps. 0 MPG during that time will bring down your average very quickly.

My understanding is the base tune is a safe tune...made for you to pull logs and allow OV to get a baseline of the vehicle and optimize and adjust from there.

    - Any outstanding ticket will be getting an update today
    - Several folks already have been updated or emailed.
    - This will be the last update until we finish all code / patch work / options in the rest of the ECUs.
It's our priority to get the code done for all of these ECUs, and expect to have it wrapped up for all of them over the next few weeks.

I will publish a list of all ECU versions that have our exclusive features applied to them at that time.

We are doing this to eliminate the back log, eliminate the waiting time and delays on updates.

You are welcome to continue logging and providing any feedback to our zendesk during this time.

To be clear, here is the complete list of features available as part of our final Tundra patch. (some of the features we previously worked on has been simplified or eliminated)
    1. Map switching with Tow mode
    2. GearLock based on S-Mode
    3. DirectShift in S-mode

It will also be a blog post on our website when we have all ECUs done. That way there is no confusion on if / when your ECU will have it

Innitial base(safe) tune and winter fuel is my guess as well. Things should improve as you continue to log and update revisions. 8-10mpg is highway towing mileage for my SC truck on stocksize(33") KO2's
I'm only 35 miles south of you, or 45 miles East depending which home I am at. Center Point and/or Lake Delhi

I got my final update for the engine portion of the tune this morning. Sure is nice knowing it's dialed in perfectly.

    -Greatly reduces Transmission temperatures

What kind of drop in transmission temps are there when using tow mode gear locking?

Not totaly scientific as ambient temps do play a part. That said towing the same load 8-9K # across the same route at 65mph I saw an 8-12 degree drop average. I had seen a high of 212 previously, and never exceeded 204 with the gear lock tune. Usually running around 195-200.

Good to hear. I too got my last minor revision. Its been like a 6-7 month process but so worth it in the end to have the truck perfectly dialed in. :)

    That's a sizeable decrease. What gear were you in? Reason I'm interested is that I've a 19 w/o the cooler and tow a 6500lb 5th wheel. :(

5th mostly but at times I can pull 6th across light rolling terrain. Bear in mind I am supercharged and your results may not be the same.

Finally got my tune for the Sequoia today! :broccoli:

Was sent stock file (base tune?) and 91 tune. i'll be running 91 tune minimum obviously with the S/C, and will likely request 93 tune (or map switch between 91 and 93 with tow haul if that's possible)

i had to buy a new charger and battery voltage was at 12.7 volts at time of flash so no problems at all. my old charger barely held it at 12.1

had a minor heart attack when i started the truck the first time, it stalled. but fired right up the 2nd time. gonna drive it like this for the weekend then do some logging for fine tuning.

i'll report any observations and driving impressions :burnrubber:

When you flash these, they start and die the first time. Totally normal.

@OVTune ..... Is it necessary that I log while towing my 4500# boat, or just do the logs without, and you do your magic from there? I've not sent in my first logs for the base tune yet, since I just got my truck back. Can't do any logging till Tuesday.

edit..... hadn't even sent you the ECU ID when this was written. Just sent that today.

So does this tune when using gear lock mode effectively turn my truck into a manual transmission of sorts? Also when not using gear lock is it making the transmission shift smarter so to speak?

Gear lock = You will have to shift the truck up or down(minus the clutch of course) As to your next question it should overall from what I have gathered from other peoples opinions on the tune in general. For me the tune firmed up shifts in both the primary and even more so with the towing tune I requested.

Today is 8 weeks since I sent my ECU data. At 4 weeks I was told soon. at 6 weeks I sent an email asking if 6+ weeks was normal as if so I'm not interested in participating. The response was no, 4 weeks is not normal.

At this point 4weeks would be "ok"

My messages have been answered at best within more than 4 days. (at worst ignored)

I sent an email yesterday saying today is 2 months, no response yet (hasn't been several days)

I need my base tune for order 5325 by Monday morning or I will be filing a dispute with my credit card, If I am forced to do that I need an address to return the hardware.

I have held off making this post as I don't want to call Mathew out but this is unacceptable. Nowhere does it say there is a month+ wait for tunes.

How is your towing tune set up? That's something I'd be looking for as well.

Its based off of my primary tune but according to Matt he tweaks it so it is a bit safer under load and at elevation. Much like stock in tow haul mode it runs the gears out longer to keep the motor in its powerband while under load and shifts are former and crisper. My set up is currently Tune #1 primary at start up. Tune #2(towing tune) once tow/haul is pressed. Gear lock is active in both once shifted into S-Mode.

So if gear lock in S mode is now active with both tunes how are you towing? I mean are you leaving it in D and simply letting the tune run the transmission? Does the towing tune restrict the tranny from shifting into 5 or 6? Sorry for all the questions but it's all new to me. Thanks.
