0CM52 is fully supported in vF Tuner right now.

Tonight we release an update, which has FULL support for all of these ECUS.
note that does not mean "gearlock/directshift/map switch" features. We have been working this whole time on getting all the dang new ECU versions that toyota released because of this fuel pump recall.
There are a bunch of new flex fuel versions, and we highly recommend anyone with a flex fuel who can update, definitely do so.

Toyota really threw a wrench at some of this. A ton of Flex Fuel trucks have all new ECU versions, making all our previous work obsolete. Same exact problem that we have so dang often on the tacoma.

At the same time we are preparing files for folks who need these updates so that they can update + have their tune all in one update

Yes there will be all the same pre built tunes we have already made

If it's similar to the Tacoma tune packs, then my assumption is yes. Taco tune packs have pre-made tunes that accommodates options such as the following: fuel type (regular/premium), tire size (stock, 33", 35"), gearing (stock, 4.88, 5.29) and shifting type (standard/enhanced). Since VF has been around longer in the Taco community, many users have already created many custom tunes that include performance, gear lock, cruise-control optimized, towing, etc.

One thing I would like Mat to consider is to accommodate FFV and Supercharged tundras as part of the tune pack files as there are more Tundra owners with Superchargers than there are in the 3rd Gen taco community.

That would be great. Has anyone made a custom tune in VFTuner yet for the Tundra?

Hey @chasenicholas93 , I have, but it was very minor changes that I haven't been able to iterate on further yet. Buddy from work was willing to give me his truck for an hour or so, and he says it feels quicker (judged by the classic butt-dyno). I tried to translate my learnings from tuning my Tacoma to the available maps on the Tundras, but it's such a wildly different engine, and I had to be conservative since I didn't want to F up someone else's truck! Realistically, if I'm going to go down the Tundra rabbithole further, I'm considering just leasing one since they lease retardedly well anyways, and then I could tinker and iterate all the time like I can with my Taco.

Would messing with the shift points or TCU file be as "dangerous" as messing with the ECU file? I would just need a new TCU file I believe.

Did any of you guys get your VFTuner capable files emailed to you yet? (for the pre 2018s?)

All files are in the VF Tuner install folder C/programfiles/vf tuner

Also there are people actively making maps on our forum.

I'm not sure that any S/C tunes are out yet in that format. I haven't read of any.

How to we get access to these updated files? I redownloaded the tuner (1.2.7.8 on the webpage but insatlled says 1.2.7.7.) .... after install that folder still only shows 5 files for 07-17s.

Also, what about the SC guys? Do you have those available in the same folders?

I was reading about the latest TSB 0095-20 that a member is getting their battery swapped out because the ECU needs to be updated to correct the low voltage problem.

Mat, having said that is it possible to adjust that with your tune? I have a AGM battery and I have to leave it on a charger all the time (2018 Platinum) because if I do not the voltage is never at the top end but more at the bottom end.

I think the answer was a "No" in a previous ask...there are aftermarket fuses that can sometimes trick the ECU/Alt charging output but correct me if I'm incorrect...

I use the MK4 Adjustable Alternator Voltage Booster to change the voltage. I bought it from from here https://www.hkbelect.com/products/toyota/?model=tundra&year=2012 I have had it for about a year and a half and it has been working great. I wanted to be able to select what the target voltage is, but once I set it I haven't changed it.

Before I use up my credits, I wanted to clarify how to open the correct tune in VF Tuner if you originally purchased a custom tune.

I've already done the logging and received a tune for my truck that has the JBA headers with a full BAM exhaust.
I already have the VF Tuner registered it and loaded the master key
I just downloaded and installed the latest VF Tuner version 1.2.7.8
My ecu is 0CJ64 and its on the list of supported ecu's

Do I use the 89663-0CJ64.vft file located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\vF Tuner\Tundra 07-17 or do I need to do something else to get the file with my previous tuning included?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I could not find the information when I looked thru the thread or in the instructions.

Same question regarding the CM51/CM52... If I open the CM52(newer version) will I use credit for ONLY CM52 files and not be able to open and update CM51's? ..

Will I be able to open up the SC tune later if I open the base CM51/52 now to start learning the tuner while we wait?

I remember that conversation also but the fix for this guys Tundra through the TSB is an ECU flash to correct the voltage. I do not remember if his is a 2019 or 2020

My point is if the software can be updated for the voltage in the newer trucks, is it something that has not been stumbled upon yet? ‍♂️

Yes you open that file to unlock access to your ECU. Then you'll have permanent access to any files of that ECU version.

I will dig into the code and see if I can find alternator controls. If it's like the tacoma we can add it easily.
From my understanding though the Tundra controlled the alternator through some voltage regulators and relays. That might not be the case on newer tundras though.

anyone with 0CM51 we will be updating to 0CM52 so it is recommended to unlock that file. Any 0CM51 SC calibrations are being remade in 0CM52.

@OVTune Is there a way to open something like a practice tune without using up our credits so we can learn the program while we wait for our ECU to be available?

    No there is not.

But to be clear, you don't need credits per file. Only per ECU version.

So lets say you unlock "0CN21 stock." Then you can open *any* 0CN21 file. it's not per individual file.

So you should unlock the file that matches your ECU version. You won't have to use credits again for any tune or file for your specific ECU version.
    Hopefully that makes sense.

Sorry I just realized you said while waiting for ecu support. I don't have any way of doing that right now as credits are tied to ECU version unlocks.

Hi Mat. Any luck or update for direct shift and gear lock for the older trucks? 0CK06

I’m still looking forward to one of your appointments, hoping it could be resolved.

This ECU version is now obsolete so you'll get updated to 0CK07 first

didn't miss it. I just recently found out about it. Because Toyota has expanded their fuel pump recall to so many more cars, there are so many ECU versions being updated at the same time. Although I'm not sure if they are directly connected.

Sorry, but do you mean I’ll need to get an updated ecu from the dealer?

never mind, wynnded explained to me that I would need to get my truck flashed with the new program.

Mat, I’m going to email you and request an update to my current tune from you. I’d like to leave everything the same, except when I move into s mode, I’d like it to be able to shift manually just like it would if it were stock. It currently won’t shift to a different gear at all and if it’s going to be a while before the new ecu is cracked, this should hold me over. Maybe by that time you will have everything under your self tuning system.

would this be an easy request?
