I've considered building a platform like that in my double cab. Definitely tighter but it could work or be a good platform for my dog. Excited to see the final product!

The only time i ever slept in the cab of my CM i just shoved an air mattress in the back and inflated it with my CO2 tank. It contoured around the center console and rested on my back packs on the floorboard. Worked pretty well, but i am too tall to sleep this way comfortably . But in a pinch , it works.

We cannot offer much help on the pricing problem, but we can show you how easy it is to remove or reinstall the DECKED system if you ever needed. It should only take about 15 minutes and can be done with one person, no problem.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    UPDATE 1

Heres some pics of progress so far. Still working out some details but you get the basic idea. Still need to attach the rear section with a hinge and build some type of folding legs for front and rear.

Once finished it won’t be so close to the dash and heater controls. I Will still be able to open the glove boxes and center console.

We hear you! Our main goal is to offer a product that helps provide a solution for storage, organization, security, and versatility to your truck bed.
A very wise man invented "Everyday low prices". It's simple: make what you make and sell it for the most competitive price you can afford and don't discount it. And in our case, make it in the USA and pay your people a good wage. We just figure that the best deal is an everyday low price, every damn day of the year.

The price of our product is usually paid off within the first few months of service. How? You are literally more efficient. It's hard to explain how much more time you will save which leaves you time for other stuff when you are neat, tidy, and organized. If you read our customer reviews, you will find hundreds of reviews that will tell you just that. Time is money. Ancient truth. And DECKED is designed and engineered to save you a lot of time.

    Cheers to that.[IMG]

No plans to make a full 8' long system as it would require a full redesign of the product. We do offer a 6.5' system that fits 8' beds and are soon to release a crossover style tool box that will fill the space on the cab side so you get even more storage and organization. We are always looking to expand our product line and appreciate all of the feedback. Keep us posted if you have any more questions.

So, I have done this on a few trips. Max I’ve done is 3 nights in my Crewmax. Either fold down back seats and use a camping pad (back seats don’t fold completely flat so it is not level) or a cooler and other stuff to fill up the floor gap and a camping pad over that. 6’, can stretch all the way if I move the passenger seat forward and put my feet on the front door. I prefer sleeping inside due to window tint/door locks/privacy as I often sleep in truck stops or parking lots inbetween destinations.

It works, but I will be buying an RTT in the near future. Just goes to show you don’t need to spend money to get out and see stuff.

And I have no plans to buy one too short for my truck.
I already use drawers that waste space because of this and it is double annoying to both lose the space and block the floor space in front of the drawers to be able to open the drawers when I need to or unpack in front of them all the time.

I realize that not too many of us have the Long Beds anymore but when we do I bet most of us like to use the entire thing too.

I slept inside a Ford Escape that cost less than a roof top tent while travelling for 3 months. Built a wood platform and had some memory foam to sleep on. Tenting doesnt always work, finding a place to tent can be a hassle. Some times you gotta sleep at a boat ramp or a walmart if you are travelling. Tenting when the weather is bad or pitching a tent in the dark sucks too. It was so much easier sleeping inside for me. I spent less on gas for 19,000 miles of traveling than a roof tent costs too.

I would totally build a platform across the back seat to sleep on if I had a 4-door.

I slept on the back seats in my CM and at 5’11” it wasn’t comfy at all. Even the beautiful backdrop of Lake McDonald in Glacier NP wasn’t serene enough to make me forget how little room I had. I did that only one night. I had brought a tent but was in a hurry to pass out and after I realized my mistake it was too dark, I was too tired.

Anyway, what I did have was an awesome Cabela’s Cot Tent. Single, not the double like I wanted, but this was a CraigsList steal at $75. So you just need the bed of the truck and this thing goes from end to end. The last bar at the tailgate end can slide into the gap between bed and tailgate, so I put a 2x8 board on its side inside that gap, and the tent buts up right against it to where it fits snug between the cab end of the bed and the board in that gap.

It has a rain fly, but I also have a 10x20 pop up canopy I put up. I can leave the canopy up, go about my day in the truck, and when I’m back to the site I just back up into it. Has 2 10x10 canopies put together side by side is kinda what it looks like, so one is for the bed of the truck, the other is for whatever else I want under cover and I don’t have to do anything but remove the tent from the back of the truck. Makes for a hell of an easy tent setup and since you set up in the bed, you always have a clean, flat, dry surface. If you have bed lights surrounding under the deck rails, even better. If you have power hooked up to the back, way way better. A lil buddy heater back there, too easy and nothing permanent. Luv it. Wish I took pics when I figured that setup out. Oh and the tent itself sets up more quickly than those quick setup tents. It essentially has tube frame around it and folds up sorta like a camping chair.

Here’s a pic of the double tent which takes a good portion of the bed up but it does have the room I want, especially if the dog is in there with me

Any idea where I can get those clamps that you are using on your shell?

I'm not sure on the clamps. They came with my shell and it was purchased at an ARE dealer operating under Line X.
