Casted my vote. 18k miles 2018 Platinum and died after 17 months. Pulled into the garage and as I switched it off, the seat started to go back and stopped and everything went black. Couldn’t start until I jumped it. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

Yep, I put the X2 in mine. It’s the exact same battery as Northstar but you get an extra year like mentioned. And I talked batteries plus into slightly more than 10 percent and got the 30 dollar mail in. Even the group price can’t touch that.

I proactively replaced my 17 at the 2 year mark. I got a Northstar for $300 shipped. The OEM battery is now my workbench/jumper battery. It is always on a tender so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts.....so I haven't cast my vote yet.

16' 190K. Fine one day. Next day nothing not even a portable jumper would get it started.

The Intrastate battery story is very interesting.
I use two Optima yellow tops that are 2013 and 2015 vintage on a 02 Tahoe with a Warn M12000.
But the plant moved to Mexico.
X2 will be my next purchase.

I just cast my vote. Just barely under 6 months from date of purchase until it would not start. Dealer replaced it, noted "bad cell" on the paperwork.

Service guy was super cool, and said it wasn't the first one or the earliest one he had replaced in a Tundra.

I didn't vote since mine hasn't died yet. 2018 bought new in January of 2018, 34,000 miles. I have a Northstar being delivered tomorrow and will change it out as a pre-emptive. I would rather lose a few months of battery life to gain a reliable battery since failures are hard failures requiring replacement and not jump starts.

I swapped out the original battery in my '13 in April. One month shy of the in-service date. It was just beginning to get a little weak. Replaced it with an Interstate MTP.

A little this and that...Broke now
My 16 died about 18 months after we brought it home. The Stealership swapped it out and I'm 2 1/2 years into replacement sit-in at 38k miles

That is exactly what I plan to do (we think alike). I have a spare battery tender I can put on this to keep it alive. I have a lawn tractor and Kubota tractor that sometimes sit for months and this battery would make a good backup.

I'm at 2.5 years and 50K miles. I'm proactively replacing the OEM battery this weekend -- on my terms, not the battery's. $94.99 for an Interstate at Costco. Best deal I've found.

Just replaced the battery in my 2017 with 25,xxx miles on it today.Same thing as yours did.Started 3x this morning totally fine.Got home put food away came out to move it hit the key and click that was is.Of course windows were down and while looking for a replacement ,sky went black awesome.I went with Interstate MTZ 34F AGM.4 yr warranty see how it works out.Store tested each cell and they were all good, but it was only putting out 9.6 volts.

A couple of others are looking at pre-emptive replacement, but that just goes against the tight-wad in me. OTOH, you can't afford to be blindsided in the middle of nowhere either.

I just ordered an inexpensive Solar BA9 handheld battery, starting, charging system tester that promises to take the mystery out of battery remaining life questions, and whether it's the battery or the alternator questions. Once I get a little experience with it, I'll post up a thread.

Take a look at that Northstar AGM 27F. It's pricey up front, but AGM has lots of advantages long term. They are less susceptible to sulfanation (lead sulfide crystals coat the lead plates and gradually kill the battery.) They can be restored after being totally discharged for months. With right smart charger/maintainer (CTEK), an AGM can last longer than the standard lead-acid battery.

If you're in Houston, there's a Northstar seller out on TX-249 outside of the Sam Houston Tollway loop. Not too many sellers...nearest one to me was in San Marcos. I decided order mine off Amazon, six days delivered to my door. If you have a company vehicle that might work for you.

Well, I received the BA9 tester, and I wasn't completely happy with it. It was an US brand with better reviews, but didn't quite have the capabilities I wanted. Returned for credit, and ordered an Ancel BA-101 (link below). This tester (surely Chinese) provides more information in a better format, and allows the data to be downloaded to a PC for printing. Happily for me, it was on a special one-day promotion, today only. I'll follow up with my impressions later.

No vote cast yet. 2018, purchased new in December of ‘17, so ~18 months and 32k miles, daily driven on my OE battery so far. In the southeast.

Mine died after the 18 month toyota care service. Picked it up with the engine running, parked it in the garage and 2 day later just clicks.

Just replaced the one on my 2018 at 18 months. It still worked but started leaking blue crap out of the positive and white crap out of the negative.

Replaced with an advance auto autocraft AGM platinum 24F for $167 after coupon and core return. 3 year full replacement warranty and I've had several of these across multiple vehicles with great longevity

Disregard this if you already know, but if you ever need to charge your AGM battery, or if you presently use a float charger for maintenance, look at the CTEK Multi US 7002 charger. Jay Leno endorses them enthusiastically for his garage, but he's probably getting the chargers gratis. The real story is told by the Amazon reviews.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FRLO9Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

AGM battery life can be reduced by high voltage/high current charging rate of conventional old school chargers. AGM batteries like to be charged "low and slow", and the CTEK limits maximum bulk charging rate to 7 amp @ 14.7 volts. In fact, they have an eight step charging plan for charging severely discharged batteries that includes battery analysis and desulfanation when required.
