    Hello All!

I read a head to head comparison thread but it’s out of date relative to what’s currently available for my situation and needs. I am trying to decide on which audio upgrade is best for my 2020 Tundra Crewmax Limited with JBL “premium” audio. I am trying to stay under $1500 so I’ll need to keep my head unit and buy a DSR1. The 2 sites I have seen recommended the most are Tech12volts and *********. Tech 12 currently has the DSR1 processor for $295 and 1 system available that would fit in the budget:

    1. 07-21 TUNDRA CM/DC INFINITY HERTZ COMPLETE PACKAGE for $999https://shop.tech12volts.com/product.sc?productId=529&categoryId=124

    summary:
Here is what is included in the package

1 custom sub enclosure for crewmax or doublecab .

    1 Infinity reference 7005A 5 channel amp

    1 hertz k165 6.5 compoenents front

    1 hertz k 165 6.5 components rear or x 165

1 JBL Audio Club 1200 12 inch subwoofers

60 feet of 14 gauge speaker wire

1 4 gauge EFX BY SCOSCHE OFC wire kit

2 sets of speaker mounting brackets for doors with harnesses

All connectors , screws and plugs needed for install.

********* has a comparable package but comes up at about $400 more and is on backorder currently.

    https://*********.com/shop/toyota-t...o-system-for-2007-2019-toyota-tundra-crewmax/

Does anyone Have experience with either of these systems or have suggestions for alternatives for me to look for? Thank you so much for your information!

    Nate

Now that you’ve posted their names and seen that one of them is obviously not endorsed by this forum maybe that will help your decision

    Subjective.

Not hating on either, but while these questions come up as people are trying to figure out the best choice for them, everyone here will suggest tech12volts, so its safe to say theyre a safe bet.

Now that thats out of the way, Ive made about 8 purchases with the alternative and thall whos name shall not be spoken, and never once had a bad experience. The opposite actually, they've been polite and quick. Their speaker adapters, particularly the HD ones, are very well made and competitively priced. I cant say Id recommend they rebrand items like the amps, as they're just cheap options with a small markup, but their fabricated stuff has been great for me.

Basically the TLDR is, here comes a wave of tech12volts, deservedly so from what I hear. Also, here comes a wave of hate on a company many people have never done business with.

If it were me (and it was like four months ago) I’d buy the amp harness and build out my own system.

There’s so many options for speakers and subs there is no one size fits all. Everyone listens to different music that requires different performance characteristics, some people are audiophiles and some just want thump, on and on and on.

100% go with James at tech12volts.
Do you want a sub box made in the USA or China?
Do you want brand name amps and speakers or rebranded unknowns?
Do you want awesome customer service (even on weekends) or be put in a ticket que system that will get a response in 1 to 5 days.
I live in the San Antonio area, the headquarters for the other company and went with tech12volts after 2 weeks of no responses thru the ticket system. The owner did reach out and apologize over a year later.

Also there are reasons the other company is no longer on this forum, tacoma world, or the 2 largest tundra groups on facebook.

They may sound ok, and are most likely an improvement over stock, but those hertz drivers are bottom of the rung UNO series. They are the stock replacements. Though they have a decent sensitivity. The amp is a no frills 5 ch. 500w for the sub. Thats cool. The 2 sets of components $99. each, the amp is 299. on crutchfield, and the sub is $84. on Amazon. That s less than $600. Hardware, and the sub enclosure is all that s left. You could probably beat his price by buying it all yourself. I betting you could find the amp cheaper too.

Hey man shoot me am email . We have so many other packages than the 1 you are looking at also and I can probably put you something together that is more custom for your build. We are a custom audio shop that specializes in Tundra. I didn't just jump into the audio business with no knowledge and huge marketing budget. I have been a master certified 12volt installer and fabricator for 30 years. My guys are all trained at what we do also. We have guys drive from all this country to have us install in their Tundras. This is one we delivered today . Customer spent 5000 dollar at another high end shop 10 months ago and was never happy. Drove 5 hours to talk to me. He sat in my Tundra for 10 minutes and said Take my money. Dropped it off for a week and today when he sat in it for the first time he kept saying over and over. THIS IS WHAT I WANTED FROM THE START. My team is top notch and we alway make sure our customers are 100 percent satisfied with anything purchased from us. 20210424_172133.jpg 20210425_120842.jpg

The only thing TT is good for is they make a nice thick plastic speaker adapters cut to fit your specific speaker dimensions..
Much more durable and water proof than using MDF to make adapters.

That stated, I'd buy from @james@tech12volts for audio if I was starting from scratch..

I'd also suggest replacing the stock Entune HU with a decent aftermarket Kenwood or Pioneer HU.
That would eliminate your need/want for a DSP.

I have experience with both companies I went with the other company and not James at tech12volts. At the end of the day I have a good product with great sound but I should have gone with James at tech12volts. His products are top notch and his customer service is 1000 times better then the other. At the time of the purchase it seemed like on the surface the other company was just a bit better but after needing their help after I paid them its like they didn't care. They are a terrible company when it comes to customer service. I needed a warranty item replaced and they blew me off. For your own sake go with tech12volts. You won't regret it

Also TT's ReCurve EZQ looks a lot like a rebranded Boss EQ600..
I emailed them asking about that years ago and never got a response.

If you've never heard of Boss audio equipment, it is probably because you never searched for low end audio in 1990..:eek2::oops::rolleyes:o_O:thumbsup:

I went with a TT system and I installed it myself. I am very happy with the setup, but I live in Texas and I was close enough to pick everything up at TT. Since then, I have heard so many horror stories about TT. If you live close enough to drive to San Antonio, then you may want to consider TT. Otherwise, you should probably go with another company.

This is good advice, spend a little more $$ on the mids, at least for the front. IMO they make the biggest difference in your sound, even the Sub/Amp should be lower priority. I'm running those Hertz Uno K165 and they're fine, but given how much money and time I put into my build it would have been worth it to upgrade those. Just call James and he'll set you up.

I got my system from James. I was looking at the other company, read some good things about them. The thing that ultimately steered me away from that is that I could not determine the quality of their components since they were all labeled Taco tunes. James sold me JL Audio etc for the same or lesser price. I'm not saying that the other is junk, just that I felt more comfortable buying a name brand company that I knew about and could research. I also tried piecing it together myself on crutchfield and a local shop, and then buying the harnesses and such from TT. James was able to beat the price that I could piece things together for by a significant amount so I ultimately bought from him.

Yep, they are serious, and the beef is big enough that if you type their business name in the forums or as a header, it converts to all asterisks.

I installed some of their equipment as a first stage stereo upgrade, and then came in here to ask around about them. I didn’t get any specific horror stories, but from what I gather T@c0T€nes is very happy to leave their customers high and dry if they need support, want to return something, or have any dispute with the products or the totally absent customer service.

My experience with them: Ordered the 1A system (amp, sub, box, harnesses, wiring) and installed everything. Then, I planned to buy door speakers during my second phase. I emailed them about what products to buy. Called them. Emailed again. Called them, no answer. Ghosted.
Frustrated, I contacted James. The guy immediately answered, made recommendations, and then answered several other questions via email IMMEDIATELY.

James is sharp, friendly, and very helpful. That’s why when most guys recommend him, it reads like a customer review. He’s that good.

Both companies make their boxes here in the US. TT sells primarily Image Dynamics speakers a well known and good brand. FWIW rebrand or not, most amps seem to be made in China now days. I only recommend against TTs relabeled amps because we dont know the manufacturer and theres really no way to know if youre over paying in that case. It seems that the few that have ran their rebrand amps dont seem to have any unsual issues with them.

Why not build your own? I bought my speakers adapters from TT and some parts, never had any issues .

Hate to break it to you, but the TT boxes are made in China, they only do the bed liner coating here. TT Owner showed me photos on his phone of the manufacturing and of the filled shipping containers of sub enclosure shaped boxes stacked to the ceiling.

Yep. "Made In The USA" is a mis nomer now a days when it comes to amps. The criteria is stringent when it comes to stating that.

tech12volts/Taylorsaudio has at least several hundred happy customers on this site, so naturally we will lean heavily on that side. You could probably piece together a similar or better setup in that price range but James’ setup has done all the research and is very competitively priced, taking out any guess work if you’re not big into car audio
