I've been distracted - but whats going on with those wheel fender flares? I only ask because that's what I asked myself. I'll have to take a better look.

Test everything. Bring a jack if you can and wiggle the wheel bearings. In this market i know $8k sounds cheap, but thats however many hours of work. You’re not looking for problems, you’re looking for bargaining chips.

im archaic. Things like drive-by-wire and the sais arent positives. But its not a deal breaker. I’d like to know why the intake tube and rad were junkyard parts. Not many details on the ad.

I noticed the intake, how did you know the radiator is a junkyard pull?

It's a great tape job with Henry's sealant applied and a random screw that I can see. @Sirfive nailed it, unless you find a deal breaker, these things are bargaining chips because fixing them if you need or decide to costs money. So stack all of that up. But look for the deal breaker, and it will be hidden. This truck screams duct tape, but it may be awesome for less than 8K

My bet is frame. Or clueless seller. If he seems swarmy or deceptive I would hesitate.

looks like a price tag. I dunno, i’m the kinda asshole that brings tools and after an hour of crawling all over it, they start negotiating their own price down.

drop the spare, and look for rust with a hammer. You’re not trying to bend anything, just rattle the loose stuff. If you poke a hole, you’ve gone too far, and need to walk away.

It doesn't immediately scream "Facebook scam", I've noticed several those which is generally a truck with 1-2 photos and the same description on each listing. This is also his only listing, his FB profile (while sparse) doesn't throw red flags.

He said he's at work tonight, so hopefully I'll be able to see it tomorrow.

We know he's Swamy or maybe practical? I was wrong, not henry's - black silicone. but, this guy can be taken down if the truck is structurally and mechanically solid. He knows it's not worth 8K so pay less. But - run that VIN. I don't think it's a 100.25K truck.

Seems like it could be legit. The only frame pic visible does show some rust so I'd be skeptical of that as unless it's an 03 you're on your own for the frame. 8k? Eh, maybe 5 or 6 in this market. Get a real good look at that frame and ask about timing belt as others said.

It's roof seal - but I changed my opinion - it's silicone on there.

Only spot I differ with you on is inventory. If someone really wants a RC, and a non white RC, probably worth a bit more. Not many v8 4x4 RC’s in good condition. An AC would be a bit easier to find.

That's a fair point. My brain is in a few different places rn lol. RC is a bit more rare in this config but I wouldn't want one personally. If OP really wants a RC over anything else then maybe this wouldn't be too bad of a deal as long as other maint items have been taken care of.

Check that frame. I thought my frame was decent. After seeing my old frame after replacement it turns out it had small holes in it where it was hard to see. The lack of frame recall really pushes me away from the later trucks but other people have different skills and abilities than I do so maybe some frame repair wouldn't be a big deal for them.

Not sure what you're going on about with this?

I'm currently hunting - very casually - another 17" 5-spoke in the bright silver finish, not the Sequoia darker grey metallic finish. Just one, if it's got tire pressure sensor that's bonus for me.

An AC would probably be a better truck for commuting. OP, Chris has his for sale if this one doesn’t work out, though it’s double the $

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/2006-ac-sr5-v8-4x4-central-in.103759/#post-2666692

The 8’ bed is really fantastic for construction, dump runs, tandem bicycles, dogs, moving, and camping. I had so many great times with mine when I was young and single. But as a daily without the shell I found it larger than ideal. It really was an awesome setup when out on the road though.

Comments on the purchase, things for Rahl to look out for, your opinion on the photos, your gut read, the fact that it's listed as 2005 but doesn't appear to be, etc. Nothing specific about wheels (though they are aftermarket). Just hoping you can help a TW guy contemplating FGT.

An 8' would have been great when I bought my DC, The 6'2" has been awesome, and now I wish it was 5'5 (not an option)

With recent used car prices going through the roof, you guys are low. Tundra's like that in good shape are starting at 10 but mostly in 12 grand range. I see some sellers online are asking up to 20 + grand. Ck it out. From what I see, if you get it at yesterday's prices consider that cheap and it's a steal.

I really appreciate all the candor here. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking for another DD since my '02 Taco has a cracked frame and almost 300k miles. I know the FGTs are super reliable with the 4.7L. I only jumped on this RC as it's close to me and seemed reasonably priced and not a scam. There aren't too many of the early Tundys around here because they hang on to them.
