Well I started my budget build about 4 years ago. My plan was to stay one step ahead of the bans. So I bought an Anderson lower receiver. Pre-Russian invasion a couple weeks ago I bought some Pmag 30 round 556 mags. So now I have two parts that are always on the chopping block in my state. I figure this Russian invasion is a good excuse to get the show on the road and bump up my completion timeline to sometime this century. The problem is I have forgotten all the research I did on what to buy next! So please help me with the next step. I believe I had been looking at a 16” barrel and some sweet trigger group, likely from PSA. So what recommendations for the lower parts? This will purely be used for target practice/just to have to exercise my rights/just in case. A quick google search says to buy an Aero Precision LPG which will likely be my next step. What say you?

I see where you are in one of those states:(. I’ve recently completed some builds and I went with the Rise Armament LPK since I was using drop-in triggers. I’m no gun smith but when I bought the parts I just started with the stock and worked forward. Make sure all you’re parts are consistent (i.e. mil-spec) to ensure they fit.

buy a quality bolt carrier group, barrel, and trigger

all of my guns run Larue triggers. I also stick with Larue, BCM, Ballistic Advantage and SOLGW for my barrels, but there are many, many other quality options out there…hard to beat an FN CHF for a multi purpose barrel

“mil-spec” is *a* specification- not necessarily a good one.

Look at Primary Arms in Houston thru alway have sales on a bunch of parts.

Aero Precision for lower parts are always good and the trigger is not bad either. I have never had any failures from Aero.

Thanks for replies. I ordered a PSA MOE EPT lower build kit. It has the slightly upgraded trigger and guard and the MOE Grip and Stalk. I’ll look into the suggestions for barrel and upper parts.
