Interesting. I haven’t heard that. CA is the most restrictive state and they’re located here. Either way, my neighbor got it down and loves it...until he has to fill up. Lol

My seats are so hard that my ass is asleep anyway long before I run through the 26 gallons and I need to get out and walk a little.
Otherwise I stop for almost nothing else!

    Clever Common Sense Design!

How did you find your 38 gallon tank? I need to do this mod and if I can find one for about that price I'll pull the trigger on it too

I found it via online auto salvage yard searches. I waited until one showed up
An hour away from me. I did other searching to locate a Tundra in a yard that might have one but the search by part got me one first.

When towing I just throw 2 five gallon gas cans in the bed. I bungee them in place. Towing out in west Texas on the smaller tank is fun, you get to know ever gas stop along the way. Only needed to add gas out of a can, were on a deer lease in the middle of BFE and used the truck all weekend hauling feed to feeders most of the time in 4x4 low, so burned up a bunch of fuel that weekend.

i Have been looking off and on for the last 6 months. Most seem to be priced $600-1000 which seems steep for a used tank. Hoping one will pop up close by that is priced right

    Chandler, AZ, not anymore :(
I pulled Jayco that weighs around 7500-8000 lbs. with all my stuff in it. My 26 gal tank was good for about 150 miles. And as others mentioned, light came on early and I put 21 gals in. I had constant headwind and got just over 7 mpg. On the way back I got almost 9 mpg.

I have a 2015 CM with a supercharger so I average 10 MPG virtually everywhere I drive. I took the rig up to Wyoming, Montana with Yellowstone in the loop and burned through 400 gallons of gas through my 26 Gallon tank, just over 4000 miles total. As I have gotten older I really do not mind the more frequent stops. I often found that many of our stops were not initiated by low fuel. The stretch, coffee refill, driver changes all became welcome as the drives stretched out. I also have an 05 Mercedes diesel that I get 38 plus with 21 gallon tank that you can go forever on, and I still stop often. No fuel, but stop at the rest areas to stretch.

There are times when the powering through to a destination will make it a pain, but I if I am just touring and sight seeing, the stops don't bother me so much.

you can always swap for the bigger oem tank later on. If the truck you found is the one you want.
