Finally made up my mind after over a month of research and settled on an OME kit with the 6112 coils. Almost went with Dobinsons but between being out of stock and some discrepancies in settled height i went with OME. Got a great deal piecing together parts from ebay and Amazon and ended up at $695 shipped for the entire kit without leaf springs. This is going to be paired with my 295 Falken wildpeaks on OEM TRD OR wheels. Really excited!

I did have one question though, for those of your running this setup did you need a shackle to level the rear?

Congrats. I installed my shackles before measuring so can’t help out much. My truck has slight rake with the 613s upfront.

A full kit would have new Dakar rear leaf packs, so you just got the rear shocks, front sturts and front springs? If you didn't get new rear leafs I would install the front then see how much lower the rear is, then get shackles, lift blocks, AAL or new spring pack to compensate.

I would get shackles or a block. Installed CoachBuilder 2+ and sitting at 24.5 front and rear (center of hub to fender)

Looks great. I’ll definitely be going with shackles over blocks and eventually grab their leaf pack. Thanks for the info!

Im new to the whole suspension lift game but im pretty sure i want the 612 OME setup. im looking for just a little bit of a lift around 3" and smoother comfy ride than my stock platinum now offers. so im thinking i just need a basic lift kit. but when on the Toytec site it gives options such as dif drop and leaf springs vs block, UCA...do i really need all that? and i see alot of people get shackles as well. its kind of overwhelming tbh...

If you're in it for the ride quality and not towing or hauling I'd say go with toytec and pick the 612s, no UCA, and go with a longer shackle in the back rather than blocks or leaf replacements.

3” of lift is substantial, what size tire are you going to run?

Here's 275/70r18s on the OME kit (with leaf replacements).
Lots of room to move up in size!

Sounds like a solid setup! Just keep in mind your leafs will flatten over time. The stock ones don't have a great life outlook once shackles or blocks go on.
Since the kit came with it, I put the diff drop on mine. Honestly though, the axles weren't at a crazy angle without it, so I'm not sure how necessary it was.

Or have you considered: I'm not sure you will like OME on a daily driver, it really is geared toward corrugations, heavy off road and heavily weighted trucks.

Definitely go with assembly, unless you're having a shop installing everything. I dont like messing with spring compressors, so I paid to have them assembled.
With the softer 612 springs you should get a good ride out of the OMEs. I have the heavy duty springs and she still rides like buttah.

Don't get me wrong I love the OME kits, you will too. If you are installing yourself I would buy them assembled.

havent decided whether i want to or not...wonder how much shops charge for install....im guessing a good 4-6 hours labor time? i see that everyone here loves both toytec/eibach kits and OME. just want something comfy and reliable. added ride height is a plus for leveling.

On a brand new truck like yours 4-6 hours is about right. Yay lifts of all kinds! Haha

I really enjoy my OME 612 kit. On dirt roads and pasture land, that kit sings, soaks up bumps and what not with ease.

On road its more planted and firm, yet smooth.

Overall for my use, I like it.

Anyone use the no compressor method to install these? Which is installing the shock and spring into the perch and jacking the LCA up and then putting the top nut on and dropping the jack. Done it on many other cars but not a truck before. I see Tacoma guys do it a lot. Helps mitigate the risk of spring compressor use.

Otherwise I’ll just rent a larger heavy duty compressor. Going to start my install today.

Finally got the suspension done today. The no compressor method works fine to disassemble the stock shocks but the spring rate on the OME springs is way too high for even my bench compressor to handle. Took it to a shop who let me use their wall mount for free. Rest of the install was straightforward but a PITA due to everything being the original suspension with 120k on it.

Just got my alignment and the guy said one of my cam bolts is seized so I’ll have to figure that out. As a result my left wheel camber is 0.4 degrees over what it needs to be. We’re going to try again soon.

Truck drives great and looks great though. Definitely will need shackles in the rear, just waiting till then front settles. I’ll have some pics once I get my tires mounted. Thanks for the help and advice in here

Cool, glad to hear you got it. Bummer on the cam bolt. Can’t hurt to soak it in kroil or something if you can in the mean time.

17" Methods 35x12.5 BFG KO2 - OME 612 Kit Dakar Rears OME Shocks & Shackles. - Nitro 5.29s and Auburn LSD
    Update:

612 package installed and all the gains are to my satisfaction. Pre-install I had a 3in readylift leveling kit without the rear block. All four corners measured @40" from ground to top of the fender.

    Pic below of
    Pre-OME (stock rear, readylift front)
    20190627_151648.jpg

After OME install Front gained 1.5" up to 41.5" and the rear gained 2.5" to 42.5" .

Needless to say I am very happy with the choice. Install was very straight forward but also much heavier than stock.

    Pic below of
Post OME (612 Fronts, OME shocks and Dakar (+) leaf springs). 35s might look a little small now...but fingers crossed I don't decide to go bigger. 20200521_162713.jpg

Also had 5.29 gears and auburn LSD installed, RPMs back in the upper range pep is back and 6th gear holds without the need to downshift I only have about 500 miles (drain and fill coming soon) as of now, but I'll be paying close attention to my MPGs moving forward.

Thanks again to everyone on tundras.com for all of the info and advice.
