Any first gen guys on here who can advise?

I am having hell finding strut mounts that will work with my OME struts. Moogs didn't work, KYB's didn't fit. 2.5" with and add a leaf set up.

I sent an email to OME/ARB, they sent me a one line response to my three paragraph description telling me to use OEM (sic) mounts. I should have bought them assembled...

Edit... I can try to use my existing mounts, but I really don't want to pull my struts apart only to discover that they won't work and that I will have to have my truck on jack stands until I figure it out.

Just installed some OME shocks and struts with 612 springs. Got about a 3" lift in the front. It sits a little higher than the rear now so I'm planning on adding some Toytech shackles to get rid of that Cali-lean. It rides great. Felt like a new truck off road.

It should settle about .5" lower than now after a bit of working it in. Did you lift the rear @ all?

I haven’t lifted the rear yet. I have some Toytech shackles I’m going to install this week. It sits about .5” higher in the front right now. I want to put a little rake back in.

Fairing well thanks. Love my 613’s with the added weight of the bumper and excessive steel everywhere else :)

Pic attached for obvious reasons ;)

Good to hear. I am now exploring this option for my build as I will have a full treatment from CBI on the truck. Front bumper and winch, sliders, underbody armor, bed rack and RTT, TruckVault drawers, and rear bumper with full size spare. So it'll be heavy.

I was planning to do full ADS but my soon to be former spouse is getting a little more juice out of her squeeze than I anticipated. Ahh life. What a time to be alive.

Soon to be 4WC Raven host. Mods to come.
Good thread and thanks. So some questions. Disclaimer I am aware of payload arguments...

    2019 Tundra 5.7 SR5 4x4 CrewMax w/ 20" Aluminum Wheels

    1. Looking at putting a Four Wheel Camper Raven on board. It would be a shell model and probably (worse case) see 1500 pounds loaded. Add myself, dogs, misc. front stuff = 450#. So let's call it 2000# (1500+450). My payload is around 1250#. So plus 750# over max payload.

    2. Would also occasionally tow a flatbed trailer with SxS at 3000# and 320# tongue weight. When towing this set up I could transfer almost 500# to trailer for only a 50# increase to tongue weight. So 2000 - (500-50) = 1550# and 300# over max capacity.

    3. Looking at the OME basic kit (will decide on 612 vs 614 depending on bumper/winch). Yes I know this will affect my payload. Diff drop bracket, driveline spacer and UCA.

    4. Would go with Dakar rear leafs and perhaps for an extra spring (D28XL).

    5. Add airbags plus cradles.

    6. Keep TRD rear sway bar.

In your opinion am I on the right track? Any advice please. Thanks!

    Question for the brain trust.

    1. Is changing the UCA a "good idea" or a necessity when doing the lifts mentioned here.
    2. what else should be updated/changed out since teh suspension is being worked on. my truck has 240k on it roughly.

Not sure what else should be replaced just because your doing the lift. But I just put on OME shocks with 612 springs and toytec 1.5” rear shackles. Gave me almost a 3” lift in the front and 1.5” in the rear. I still have the stock UCAs. There was no problem getting it aligned. The ball joints do look like they might be at a more severe angle than before, so maybe they will fail sooner. Not sure but time will tell. I love the new shocks, and the stance of the truck.

Thanks I was more thinking hardware wise. This truck has not had any suspension work done in a while so not sure if the ball joints or bushings or bolts etc... should be replaced.

Everything looks ok on inspection from outside though.

I am going to keep the stock tires for now. I just bought a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3’s a couple months ago. Also I’m worried about the gear ratios changing with bigger tires since I tow a travel trailer. Maybe someone on here can let me know if they have any problems towing with bigger tires.

My hub to fender measurement ended up being 25” in the front and 25-1/2” in the rear. It was even on the driver and passenger side. I did have to put a 1/2” spacer above the front drivers side shock. When I installed the shocks without it I had a lean to the drivers side. The spacer fixed it.

I would do the lower ball joints, tie rod ends and maybe the end links while it's all out, you gotta do an alignment anyway, might as well.

I am running 285/75 and while I dont tow a trailer, I have no issues with my duck boat or 4 wheeler... granted those are probably a fraction of the weight.

Thanks for taking those measurements! Very helpful.

3" OME lift w/ UCAs. ARE overland shell w/ ARE roof rack. 34" Falken Wildpeaks. ARB awning. Road shower. Wilco Offroad Hitchgate Solo High Clearance. LED lighting upgrades. Lockerdown console safe. Weathertech floormats. Duluth deluxe rear seat cover to go under the offroad approved car seats.... :P
Do a diff drop and carrier bearing drop. When I did the 2.5" lift on my LC the angles on the driveshafts got pretty steep. Also watch the CV joint angles. I did need the UCAs on a LC100, it was at the very edge of being able to do the alignment without them. I like being in the middle of the adjustment range instead of the very edge. Second the replace everything that looks worn while its torn apart thought process.
