I got back from snowboarding on Monday and noticed some sort of oil splattered around my wheel wells and underneath the truck. Washed the truck yesterday evening to see if maybe I just drove through something, now today at work I noticed some small puddles of oil at all four wheels it kind of weird spots. There is nothing I can see that is visibly leaking but since it is at all four corners I am suspecting brakes, shocks, or possibly axles. Any help diagnosing would be much appreciated. 2019 SR5 with Icon shocks, otherwise stock.

Icons are known to leak and squeak but all four corners at once?

I agree, all four shocks starting to leak at once seems unlikely. Also, I have aluminum skids and there is no sign of oil on top of the skids..

Still trying to figure out where the leak is coming from, don't know that it's the shocks at this point. If I narrow it down to be the shocks leaking, then I will call Icon. No obvious leaky spots on any of the shocks though..

I say all four wheels means you ran through something. Got it up where the car wash can't get.

Once I forgot to put the o ring on my oil filter. Started it up and had oil everywhere. Took months of car washes for it to all go away. Maybe you ran through something and couldn’t get it all with 1 wash.

    Who makes those end links?

Wash thoroughly in your driveway and let it dry, then apply lots of baby powder maybe?

Oil leaking from shocks would be leaving a spot on the inside of the tires, you’re spot is coming from just behind each tire, near the outer edge. Try removing one of your mud flaps and see if there’s a bunch of muck in the void space.

Did you tell someone at work and they are messing with you? What are the coincidence that all 4 corners are leaking. The spots on the tires look like you drove through it, ie. It was on the ground already.

I didn’t tell anyone and it seems like way too big of a coincidence that there would be oil in the same spot on all four corners. I guess I’ll just keep an eye on it. Seems too dark to be brake fluid, would shock oil be that dark in color? Otherwise diff oil coming from axle seals?...

    LOL.

A friend told me this story of how he and some friends pranked a coworker. It seems every day this guy bragged about what great mpg his new import was getting. Finally, they grew weary of it, and starting bringing in gasoline in jerry cans to secretly add to his tank. His bragging got louder, and he finally began to disbelieve the mpg his new import was getting...it was nearly doubled! (This was back when gasoline was cheap.) They supported this bragging for awhile, then they quit adding gasoline, and started siphoning out a little every day, until his mileage was half of where he had started out. The guy was about to have a nervous breakdown, and they let him in on the joke. No more bragging after that.

@kylerocker10, smell your finger!...No, I mean dip your finger tip in the puddle and smell your finger. Brake fluid has a very distinct smell. From the color and other appearance, my opinion is that could be well-used brake fluid, but I have no theory about how, or why, all four corners would leak simultaneously. You're probably dripping something you've run through.

Any chance it is aftermarket rust proofing spray working it’s way out? No idea honestly. So weird.

One of my 6112s started leaking within 6 months and it was clearer than in your pictures. But I’m not sure if that applies to all shock fluid.

Haha, ironically enough my company asked me to park like that because of how small the spots are it gives the five or so spots at the end of the row more room.

My truck has under 12k so I don’t know how well used the brake fluid would be. I am really hoping I just somehow drove through a nasty oil spill and there was still enough residual oil left that it leaked out the next morning after it had been washed and driven for ~12 miles. Also, brake fluid in reservoir is clear and completely full.

    That is motor oil, IMO.

Shock oil is a lot lighter weight and clear.

You drove through it and it sprayed up and around the wheel wells. It will take a bit for it all to drain out.

    Been there done that.
