I've been using AMSOIL for many years, and have been an Independent Distributor since 2007. For me, it's AMSOIL in everything I own ... from vehicles to small engine equipment. Can't be beat! I just recently performed my first oil change since having my Tundra, and switched over to AMSOIL!

I remembered the resin bearing coating. That would make me worry even more...the resin would have to be "wiped" before aluminum began to wear. :(

I believe you can get hotter thermostats for Suzuki outboards. Mine runs in the 150's in the Chesapeake Bay. I've heard the hotter thermostats help burn off excess fuel and condensation. Maybe worth a shot. Don't want to derail the thread further with outboard talk. Thanks!

Quick question for those of you that do long oci . Anyone that had a new Tundra that did an early 1st oil change? I am at 1250 miles and thinking about doing a change early. Any body have a link to a post that discusses this? Thanks

I did my first change at 1000 miles just because it made me feel better. Neither Toyota, nor any other manufacturer that I know of, recommends an early change. Beyond psychological, it is impossible to quantify any actual benefit.

Thanks for your reply. I normally change early but not sure it helps. Like you said " makes me feel better"

Do any of you professionals in the oil and filter department have a suggested place to purchase Amsoil oil and filters? I am getting ready for my first oil change.

I get all mine online. I have a preferred customer account which saves some on the price of their products. Locally some independent Carquest Parts shops carry it. I've also normally been able to find a dealer in the yellow pages under oils and lubricants, even in my small podunk town.

It’s ironic that the owner of Blackstone Labs doesn’t use synthetics himself! Doesn’t think their performance justifies their price. He just uses “whatever is on sale at Walmart!” https://youtu.be/UyAQw44sEgs

Here's the analysis of fourth oil sample sent to Blackstone labs. Been changing oil and filter at one year intervals, with mileages between 20-25K. The most recent change is in the leftmost column. I did an oil/filter change at 7.5K last year to see if it made much difference in the numbers. It did not. Every other change has been around the one year interval.
