Are you asking how can you tell if your Tundra has a big brake kit? You will know when you pull off your wheel. Not trying to insult your intelligence, just making sure I'm understanding

No worries about insulting me..;-) I have not taken the front tires off the truck. I had the bigger rotors on my 2000 limited but yes It seems like it would be on the window sticker if they were installed.. Reason for the question is, the owner of these rims said that they were made to accommodate the bigger TRD brakes..

Really Joon. Is it the Trd big brake kit, because that kit is pricey.

I guess the Power assist 4 wheel disk brakes is enough for the tow package.. but the TRD upgrade would be nice.. owell back to tires and rims..;-)

Oh, you're asking if a big brake upgrade would fit in those wheels? Not if your truck came with a big brake kit. Gotcha.

Yes definitely if your towing a lot. Brembo makes a kit too. I guess when it comes to stopping power while towing your camper, big boat, etc then money shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Puud.. I looked at the TRD big brake kit last night.. looks like one of those items that fall pretty low on the list.. I am concerned about the Hub diameter of these wheels.. reading on another forum right now.. pays to do some research..;-/

Can someone please help me, I'm trying to find out what the largest size tire and rim I can put on my 2017 1794, without all the trimming other than the small flap in front and the mudguards. I am having the pocket style flares installed on it and would like an aggressive stance but not outside the flares. My math skills suuuck! I'm wanting to install the BF ko's with some black rims. Thanks in advance

Well you could most likely fit up to a 35 or a 305/70-18 if you have the right rim. @matluth has 295/70-18 STT Pros on +12's and his tires are even or slightly outside with his flares. The rim width and offset is what matters in determining how far it'll stick out.

Definitely correct. The tread edge is flush with my flares. The sidewalls stick out further. Maybe a 1/2".

9" and I'm using Stampede flares made by Bushwhacker. Stampedes aren't as wide as the Bushwhackers.

Thanks, I'm new to the Tundras. Is there much difference between a 1st or 2nd Gen tundra compared to the newest ones as far as wheel well clearances?

There looks to be quite a bit of difference between 1st and 2nd gen, with 2nd gen being quite a bit bigger. I've yet to see someone on here running much bigger than a 285/70-17 on a 1st gen, whereas 295/70-18 is pretty common on 2nd and 3rd gens. I think the 3rd gen is slightly larger than the 2nd.

I just bought (like I have a 1000 miles on it) 2017 Tundra sr5 crewmax w/trd package. This is my first Toyota pickup and i'm trying to figure out what size tires i can fit on the stock rims/suspension. It came with 275/65R18's after reading through the posts i was wondering can i fit 295/70R18's? if not would 285/70R18 fit? i'm looking to avoid leveling/lift kits if possible {well for now anyways :) Btw my "other" car is a 2015 Focus ST and focusst.org is not nearly as helpful/patient as you guys!

You won't be able to fit either size without a lift/level. 275/70-18 or 285/65-18 will fit on stock suspension, but that's it. You'll need a 3/1 to fit 295/70's, and I think you'd need at least Bilstein 5100's on the 1.9" or 2.28" setting to fit 285/70's. And I'm inclined to think you'd need spacers or different wheels to fit 285/70's even on 5100's, and you'd definitely need either for 295/70's with a 3/1.

Ok, wow Toyota didn't leave a lot of room in there. was hoping a little trimming might fit the 285/70's but i defer to yall's experience. maybe i ought to leave well enough alone till i'm ready to lift it.

Not much with stock suspension at least. I guess the better way to put that in regards to the 285/70's is that I've never seen a stock Tundra with them, almost all I've seen running that size on here have at least 5100's.

And I feel ya, if I'd of known better I'd of had my dealer put LT 275/70's on when I bought it. They look less puny IMO than the P275/65's.

I had 285/70 on stock wheels. They fit with a little room to spare with 2.5" lift. It might work with 2", but less or none and you would be doing some trimming.

Thursday I will be putting on the Pro Comp Nitro 3/1 leveling kit. I decided to go with 295/70r18. The overall tire size is roughly 34.5" I have the Magnum bumper on the front so don't think rubbing will be an issue there. Anything you guys suggest I look at before the install? Btw I got +18 offset on the rims

5100s all around, 295-70-18 Defenders, 1.25 Spidertrax spacers, BD reverse lights, de-badged, interior LEDs, footwell LEDs, reverse LEDs, ARE cap, front receiver hitch for cooler holder, cooler holder/rod rack, backup camera, Kenwood HU, Westin nerf bars, Husky floor liners, folding rear seats, remote battery posts, plastidip grill chrome, Powder coat bumpers.
I've got 295-70-18 on the stock steel rims (18X8). No issues, but I have 5100's on the top setting and 1.25 spacers. Without both there will be issues, at least on a 2nd gen.
