This is my first posting to the Tundras forum.

I bought a new 2017 Tundra SR5 last week and went on the web to order oversize wheels and tires. While trying to predict what size wheels/tires would fit inside my fenders, I studied many resources but found no reliable data to support my wheel choice. So, I made my best guess, ordered and installed the oversize wheels/tires and measured the results.

I hope the data and photos I post here will help someone trying to do the same.

    I removed the stock Toyota 18” X 8” 5-spoke aluminum wheels:

    Offset +60mm (2.36”)

    Backspace 6.98”

Hub flange to outer rim 2.15”

    I installed Gear Alloy Double Pump 20” X 9” with 275/60-20 Michelin LTX A/T 2 (33.0” X 10.83”)

    Offset +35mm (1.38”)

    Backspace 6.38”

Hub flange to outer rim 3.62”

I ended up with a 5/8” tire protrusion at the front fender, and a 3/8” protrusion at the rear.

The front tires rub my inner fenders slightly at a full turn going over a curb, but not on flat ground. I plan to lift the front 2-1/2” and the rear 1”.

Based on these measurements, you should be able to accurately calculate the relative position of any wheel/tire combination on your Tundra.

Many thanks for all of the helpful info on this forum.

AZ1441, I went the same route for wheels. The only difference was I went with the +12mm offset. I am wondering why you went with 0 and what kind of clearance you have to the upper control arm with your current set up. I am trying to figure out if the same size tires will fit my set up with the +12 mm offset. I have a readylift 3"-2" leveling kit on my truck.

I wanted a more aggressive stance. I had no issues with UCA on my 4" readylift.

I had to trim minor metal and plastic in the front.

    Zero rub at all

Ok, Finally have wheels and tires under the girl. Sorry for the dirt, but it has been raining here for 3 days straight. I have mixed emotions as they rub all over. Front fascia and front wheel well rear body mount are fair game at this point. removed the front fascia mud flaps, I have trimmed out the rear mud flaps on the front wheel wells to allow for clearance, and I used a heat gun to push as much of the front splash shield around as I could. But I still have contact. I would not recommend 295/65-20's for a 3"/2" leveling kit as there is just not enough to clear the tire in the front. You will end up with a 80 foot turning radius Here is the setup:

    3"/2" Readylift
    20"x9" +12mm offset B.M.F B.A.T.L wheels in Death Metal
    Michelin 295/65-20s

The shop that did the work removed the little front mud flaps on the forward side of the wheel wells. I assume the tires rubbed those. But with the flaps gone, there is about 1/2 inch of clearance now.

Check out my build thread for pics of the clearance.

@Wein, What offset did you go with? I went with +20 ... I probably should have gone with +01 with my flares.

And welcome to the forum! Great looking Tundra you got there.

No I still have them. Was thinking about putting them on in the Winter to keep my Fuels nice....They only have about 100 miles on them. Just because my dealer did a dealer trade. I am picking the truck up Saturday. Getting pretty excited!

I just did a 3/1.5" leveling lift and put a set of 305/65/R18 BFG AT KO2's on the stock rims. I understand the math behind offset but I also am looking for some feedback from people who have experience playing around with this stuff.

With my Jeep I used 1.25" Spidertrax spacers with the stock rims but no matter what I was still riding on stock looking rims. I don't want to do the same for too long with my Tundra.

    Questions:
When shopping for 18" wheels, how much of an offset would I need to put the tires out 1.5" or so. I don't want them sticking too far out which in my opinion messes up handling and sandblasts the side of your truck... I just want some depth to the wheel...

    See fine print
I say anywhere from +12 to +18 should put you in the area. I'm running +12. CCheck out my build thread if you want to see some pics.

Will 22" wheels with +45 offset that are 9" wide be able to fit 33" 12.50 tires on a level lift or 3/1 lift?

I'm guessing I would need a spacer cause it would be too far in? Is so how large of a spacer?

Here's a pic of my +20 offset ... I think it's sticking out decent amount without looking over done. Still shoots stuff onto the side of my truck though.

I don't think I've seen anyone running this combo, but if you're set on doing spacers. I wouldn't get anything less than 1.25" which would put you at around a +13 offset. I'm guessing you might have some rubbing on the cab mount though.

Yeah I thought that was a weird set up as well. Haven't seen anyone with a +45. I really don't want my wheels sticking out unless I go and buy fender flares. But I want the widest tire possible. Don't mind doing any kind of chops or mods
