    +18 offset on a 9 inch wheel is about 5.75 backspacing, 0 offset would be 4.5 b/s on a 9.

From 0 offset, half the width to get your backspacing. The more positive you have, the more backspacing, and vise versa for negative

Yeah, I knew that. I think I just read too many numbers before I had coffee this morning and confused myself. Hahah, had one of those talk without thinking situations

It's all good. What I can't get around my head is that more backspacing (for 2nd gens) is better than less. Since it works though, going with it.

Those gold bolts set those off with the black truck and black wheels. That's not stock set up is it? I have the standards in machine faced but I never paid much attention to the black ones color options.

How is that possible? 0 offset should be the middle of the wheel. Or am I missing something?

Because backspacing measurements include the rim outer lip and most rims are a standard 0.5" lip. A declared wheel width does NOT include the rim outer lips. Offset is measured off the centerline. See diagram below.

    Try this calculator: https://weldwheels.com/ccwheel/faqs/converter/
    Or this one: https://www.customwheeloffset.com/tire-wheel-backspacing-offset-calculators

So the more negative offset the farther the rim will stick out? Is that the correct way to think?

Well, kinda. Again, keep in mind offset is absolutely useless without knowing the wheel width. But when comparing wheels that have the same width, the wheel with the SMALLER offset (doesn't necessarily have to be negative) will stick out farther.

Guess I need to measure mine to see what I have and go from there. I think I'm going to try to sell the ones I have and get a different set of wheels.

    hello everyone,
i just got my first tundra, traded a tacoma.
so far i love this thing.
especially the sound of the dual exhaust.

i do have a wheel and tire questions if there is someone here that would know the answer that would be great.
    i am trying to put
    20x9 +18 offset
    285 / 55 - 20
on this truck with no lift.
is this going to fit with no rubbing.

i have read thru this entire thing but almost all have a lift with that size tire and wheel or bigger tires.

    thanks in advance.

Alright i have got to ask, as i'm going to be buying tires within the next two weeks, are 275/70/18 going to fit on a stock suspension 2014 4x4? my stock tires are the 275/65/18's, and i know the only difference is an inch in diameter. I've have looked at every thread and picture on this website but want to know if anyone has had issues with this. My two questions are, will they interfere with the upper control arms which would need spacers to fix and will they rub terribly bad? I have read that some have ran them and just taken off the front tiny mud flap and they were good. Also, my friend is running this size on his stock 2015, however it is a trd. I don't know if that would mess with the suspension any in the front. Any answers would greatly be appreciated because i would hate to drop almost a grand on tires that will not work. Also the truck will be leveled on bilsteins sometime this year. Just can not afford to do it at the same time.

Disclaimer is I'm no expert BUT you're talking about a total diameter of 13.75mm. The top half, that would cause issue with the UCA, is 6.875mm in tire height which is like 1/4 inch. No way in hell should 1/4 inch be a breaking point on the stock suspension/ control arms, rubbing, anything.

I am looking at putting a 2.4" level on my 2012 tundra crewmax. I am looking for a meater tire. I have 18 inch rims, will a 295/70 tire fit without modifications? If not what would be the largest tire I could but on without modifications besides the level.

They should be fine, I have about 2-2.25" lift and run 305/65r18's and only rub the mud flaps at full lock

You'll be damned either direction if you change the offset. One direction and you'll be rubbing more skid and possibly the frame. The other direction and you'll be digging deeper into the bumper and cab mount. Trimming the skid plate only requires a grinder with a cutoff wheel. Easy peasy.
CMC can be a little more involved if you don't have access to metal or own a welder. @Relentless sells the plates already cut and bent for you to take the guesswork out of the CMC. You just need to find someone to install. Shouldn't cost more than $100.
