Could use some advice from people more knowledgeable than me. Doing a 3”/1.75” lift in the coming weeks. Trying to figure out the right tire set up. Running stock TRD OR rims with 1.25” Bora spacers. Thinking 295/70/18, 285/75/18 or 285/70/18. I do not want to do a CMC. I have CB bumper spacers on the way. I live in the NE with rain and some snow. Occasional trials and camp roads. Mostly on road. Looking at Toyo AT III or Falken AT4. Falkens are cheaper but heavier. How much does the increased weight matter? The 285/70/18 AT4 only come in load C btw. My brain is shot looking at it all.

Thanks! Definitely not as common but I always prefer color sidewalls out when I have the option.

    Hi guys,

Pretty new to truck stuff as I was more of a car nut back in the days and now with work and family I don't have time to do this whole research and I know for sure someone here is already expert in this field. The time has come and looks like I will need to start thinking about new tires and here is my dilemma.

The truck I got is 2014 Tundra it was already equipped with FUEL wheels and 305x50x20 tires and what seems to be basic 2 - 2.5" lift with stock struts and flares. Also my decision will have to be based on budget and so far just tires seems to be the cheapest but will list all the option I was thinking.

    A: Get new tires
B: Get new wheels and tires

#1 I was thinking to buy smaller wheels and meaty tires and re-sell my wheels to get some money back but I have absolutely no idea what to get to maintain similar look that I have but that was something I would really wanted to do since I dont care much for big wheels and skinny tires.

#2 If it's too much hassle and too expensive to go new wheels and tires including re-sell value for the wheels that I currently have then I will just do new tires but would rather go not as wide and rather bit taller however not sure if that will work (rubbing) with these 20" wheels and how off my speedometer will be. Currently there is small rub on frame with steering all the way turned to one or the other side but that seems to be issue with the width and dont mind to go less wide.

Third option is trade but unrealistic unless miracles happen and both parties like the trade 1f602_ceb450e84d87cb8774be66104d77d4845913d691.png

Based on this thread it seem like with the wheels size I have I can go either:

    285/60 R20
    285/65 R20

I would love to have meaty tires but again not sure if thats a good idea. Don't want to throw off my car transmission or should I stay same size maybe less wider to maintain almost factory diameter?

Anyway any input from you guys will help. Few pictures as well to get idea where I'm at right now...

Can anyone reference me to a cheap leveling kit for my 2000 Toyota Tundra? I gotta get them off their current wheels due to one of the tires leaking before I start putting in highway miles. Previous owner got the leak “fixed” at the tire shop but he came back home with a busted up rim and the same leak.

Gonna be upgrading to 275/70/17. Currently on stock suspension. I Was going to originally upgrade the suspension all together but that’ll be costly and I gotta get the tire thing figured out soon, so I’m opting for the budget open for now!

Trying to keep the budget low since I plan on doing a big suspension upgrade in a couple of months, but need a temporary solution to be able put the 275/70/17’s on. So really, lowest possible for safe daily driving.

Adjustable fronts or front shock spacers, leaf adds or blocks in rear ... when you're ready to get the upgrade use the same shocks ... probably find takeoffs for super cheap ... good luck

Thanks! So I might've read stuff incorrectly, but I need to lift the front end and rear end 2 inches to fit 275's underneath? I went ahead and bought a cheap pair of spacers just for the front end that had good reviews, recommended by JDM Driveway. If that's the case, then the KAX kit would probably be the best temporary solution and I can either return the spacers or find the back spacers I need for the rear.

Well here’s my two cents, KMC Dirty Harry Wheels 17”x8.5” +18 os Toyo OC AT III 315/70R17 with a Westcott Designs Tundra TRD Preload Collar 3”/1” Lift Kit.

or you could just take 3 seconds to pull it off and put in a trash can, so it doesn't end up as litter?

In the old days that was a thing - 'Sticker Tires' meant a guy had just bought new tires. They wear off, of course.

There is a 2.5 - 3” difference in height with those 4 sizes you mentioned compared to the
Ones it’s came with. The tallest are the 295/65R20 just over 35”. Depends on offset of your wheels.
But from what I’ve read and I have a 2010 is that no, you should have no issues.

Thank you so much for the answer... I will check the offset once I get a chance to pull in the garage on the lift and take the wheel off

I have just bought a new Replika226 18"x8 wheel with +60 factory offset. I WILL be buying a 285/75R18 which is 34.8" tall and
expect no issues at all for fit or rubbing.
