The problem with a tundra, it has its own set of ‘rules’ and it comes to exhaust. Even if you were an expert generally about exhaust systems most of your knowledge would be incorrect.

Build an exhaust for a naturally aspirated tundra with stock exhaust manifolds slightly wrong, and it ruins how the truck drives.

    you need:

    1. Flow thru muffler
    2. Stock tube diameter
    3. Helmholtz resonator.

with these three things you gain low end torque instead of losing it. You gain horsepower. You have the exact sound you want. And you don’t have drone.

What package would include those 3 components?

If no response I will call the number

Hey there Keith. Was hoping you can help me with a few questions. I currently have your stainless steel 8" catback on my '18 Tundra and was wondering if it would be possible to do a swap to the TRD replacement cat back. I see on your site that I would need to purchase my own tailpipe thru the dealer. Does my current tailpipe work for the passenger side? So would I just need to source the driver side tailpipe?
I have seen members on here mention that you accept swaps so long as shipping is covered by us. I'm about 1hr from you so I can come to you to swap it out if that's doable. Just want to get an idea what I need to do to make this happen and what the cost would look like.

If I need to source the driver's side tailpipe, can anybody give me that part#? I'll start my search right now n see if I can find it.

    Thanks in advance.

This has been an interesting thread, and I really appreciate the time Keith has taken to explain ideas and answer questions. DD is now on the list for my 16' Pro.

But I do have a question; what are the down-sides to a dumped exhaust? I'd rather not have tailpipes sticking out from behind the truck.

Dumps loses low end torque. Even if you read something on the internet saying it doesn’t. Low end torque loss affects 5th and 6th gear most. When a slight hill comes up, when you lose low end torque you have to step on the gas so hard that the truck has to downshift to maintain speed.

you can cut the tailpipes after the last hanger and have the benefits of full tailpipes without looking at them

We can do the swap you’d just need to pay the difference between the 8” and the TRD rep. And get some tailpipes. Stock won’t work. Has to be TRD tailpipes. Call for details. 760-877-4234

    Keith,

Would the stock pre muffler 2 1/4” and 2 3/4” diameter tailpipe also be the best way to go for a supercharged application, with keeping low end and gaining high end power?

Can you post a video of you driving away? Trying to get a better idea on how loud it is and overall sound, thanks.

Sorry, no time to get another video clip. I will say that I am planning on adding a welded muffler to the pipe. It is awesome around town, but as soon as you hit the highway, it is just too much. My son-in-law borrowed the Tundra a couple of months ago and he said it was just unbearable for him and my grandkids on the highway. So, a Flowmaster will be added soon.

Hello, I’m an exhaust system engineer and I specialize in Toyota tundras. I know this is unsolicited advice and I apologize for intruding. But you’re going to make the drone worse with your current plan.

I’m available by phone for a free consultation most days and I’ll help you avoid the common mistakes, one of which you are about to make.

    Keith. 760-877-4234.
