Silver???

 

Blackstone has always been one of my favorite companies but their lead times are horrible. I'm 3 weeks in and still no response. I know they have the sample as they called a week ago to get an updated credit card. It's been so long I've forgotten why I sent it in.

 

Damn, I am at 2 weeks and was hoping it would be 3 max.

 

Yeah I think they’ve gotten more popular and don’t have the capacity to process as quickly as they used to. My last few samples have taken 3-4 weeks where as they only took 1-2 prior. I’ve only been sending in samples for 3 years.

 

Mine arrived at speed diagnostics today. They claim standard is 7 business days. We'll see.

 

They are usually quicker than that

 

I want to say you can get new labels from them free. I think the label changeover happened after 2018. If not, just get some new kits delivered.

This is what my labels from 2018 look like, IDK if these are still valid or if the newer ones are the same. I logged on to Blackstone and there doesn't seem to be a way to check whether they have received a sample, only when they post results.

 

I've been known to have Internet touretts syndrome.

 

There is a way to see when they received the sample, but for the life of me I can't find it (I don't currently have a sample in process). You should be able to see what date they received it and a status. It should be under the sample tracking section.

 

When I login to Blackstone Labs I see this screen:

 

They use a bag now that is included in the bottle you show. It's still USPS.
I had a few counters complain about taking the bottle with liquids in it so the envelope probably hides that.

 

Click Delivery Tracking. It shows the sample recd date and the first entry will give an Unpacked date. I don’t see the Sample ID until the testing is completed. My current sample has been in Unpacked stage for 14 days.

 

Correct. After you log in click on the delivery tracking on the right. It will show when they received kits and when your sample was received. Mine was received and checked in 6/18. I used to be 7-10 days from the time I sent it to results. I'll stick with them because I like the format but the lead time is ridiculous.

 

Hmmm... they apparently haven't received my sample, so I am guessing that USPS must have killed it. My sample kit had the sample bottle, then a plastic ziploc bag over that, inserted into the plastic shipping bottle. I am going to have to request some up to date kits.

 

That’s usually the problem. it’s USPS. Depends where you are. In some parts of the country it’s really bad. so that could be the reason for some long wait times

 

Guys, please keep it to results only. Reporting posts to keep it clean

 

Speediagnostics received sample on 7/1, results sent 7/5.
Correlates with filter visual inspection after filter cutting in prior oil changes.
Note: vehicle has 7600 miles
It's a boring report, just how I like it.

 

Love It - Speed Diagnostics recommends WIX !!!

 

Change out of factory oil at 1,324 miles. 2024 1794 non-hybrid.
Don't drive it much, so just hit 4K miles. Will check again at one year change at dealer. Runs great but mileage still only 15 city/17 highway and I drive pretty conservatively.

 

2022 SR5. 21,000 miles. A little silver in mine

 

That highlights another unknown for us. Blackstone reports silver and posits that it "might" be from bearing wear even though they say they are not sold on that idea. Whereas SpeedDiagnostix doesn't even analyze for silver and says there shouldn't be any silver in the bearings.

 

I had two samples sent out one on June 24th, the other on July 1 (Tundra sample). Both delivered on July 5th- go figure- thought there was an error in BL with the tracking numbers- but nope- both are there- USPS being USPS garbage.

Now we wait...

 

Another oil report for the list. It took 3 to 3.5 weeks to get the results.

 

Finally got my Blackstone report back. Nothing remarkable. Filter is filtering, no fuel, some metals but nothing out of whack for a new motor. This sample had some towing on it. Looks like 7K or so for an estimated OCI. Boring and that's a good thing.

 

Interesting to me that your Silver level is 1/10th that of @aorams above which has twice the mileage of yours. Silver at 11 is the highest I can recall seeing. Wish we could get an expert opinion on that higher number.

 

Looks like Blackstone was pushing out reports today.
(this one took 3.5 weeks. Much faster than YE during the Holidays)
Was happy to see numbers headed in the right direction from this 4th oil change.
Both samples from this truck are in this report for trending.
CALC, MAG, PHOS, ZINC are all oil wear additives and expected to rise and fall based on different oil brands. 1st sample to the right was Mobil1. Recent sample to the left was Toyota OEM with higher additives but lower viscosity.

 

All looks good according to Blackstone. This is the 3rd change 1st about 5k 2nd 10 k now just under 15k. I am not on the recall list but production date 2/23
